Just a quick note to all ‘brainers who are waiting on one of these shirts, either as a Kickstarter reward for backing the Garamike project, or having ordered direct from me: sorry it has taken so goddamn long to get them out, but at last I have some great news. The delay was caused by the file (a scan of a hand-colored image, rather than a photoshop file w/ separable layers) proving to difficult for the printers to work with to get the kind of crisp image quality I wanted on a black shirt. It finally came down to having to redo the image from scratch. My pal Jack Gray, a super-talented illustrator and hardcore monster fan, volunteered to do the new work, and I just got a preview pic of what he’s got so far. Knowing his skills, I allowed him fairly free reign on the new version... and it’s AWESOME; people, you will be pleased, and your great patience shall be rewarded!

More to come soon!
THANK YOU!

At long last... I (and the esteemed Mr. Jack Gray) give you... the final version of the front image for the shirts:

To be printed at about 13"H on black Gildan shirts; back will feature this image (about 7"W) between the shoulder blades:

Looks super sweet Mike, short of covering my body in foam rubber as a tribute, this is the next best thing

An overdue update on this project... my own personal "second mook"....

Today, I heard from the guy who runs the company I was praying would salvage this whole shirt project. The original company, after a lackluster first pass, tried to make right with a second attempt... which also ended up lackluster... so I asked this other guy to do a sample for me. Well, right after he agreed to do this, he and his wife had their first baby, and he put his business on hold for several weeks. Oy. So he calls today to say the sample is ready. Picked it up tonight- it's AWESOME- still had to go w/ one color as opposed to the full color version above, but it's gorgeous... every bit as sharp and clear as I knew it could be. It looks so fucking COOL. I'm happy enough to cry, and breathing a huge sigh of relief on this project. Now, I just need to schedule a rather difficult meeting with the first company, where I show them a side-by-side (I hadn't wanted to go back to them until I had in-hand PROOF that this job could be done to the level of quality I knew it could) and demand a full refund. Then, it's off to the races with the new guy. I'm REALLY hoping to have this FINALLY fucking wrapped by end of January. HUGE thanks to everyone for your amazing patience... now that I've seen this sample, I KNOW you will be very pleased with the finished product! I can't do it tonight, but I should be able to post a good snap of it here tomorrow for you to check out for yourselves... maybe even a side-by-side with one of the earlier "seconds"!

To me a T-shirt is a message from the gods to mankind; or, if not, should never be screen-printed at all.

Received my black and white yesterday. Love it. But I love this new color version even more. Looks like I'm gonna have to make another purchase down the road. Ugh goddamnit!

Thanks Mike! No really, thanks

Now, Kevin, go easy- it's the holidays, the eggnog is flowing, and reading comprehension is taking a hit...

John, glad you are digging the tee-bundles, and again, thank you!

Here's that promised side by side- new sample is on the left, second attempt from the original company is on the right.

You can see pretty clearly that one of the things that went wrong with the one on right is that they halftoned a halftone, resulting in the moire pattern that runs through the whole image. I'm very happy with how crisp and clear the detail, esp. the face, is coming through on the new version. I may have him adjust it a bit for the actual run to bring a little more shadow/definition in on the arms, and we are also talking about tinting the white ink a light, light purple, a la the GARAMANIACAL show poster. Will keep updating here!

Subliminal purple is a fine, fine idea. Now, if you'd just commit a little screen ink to a couple of shirts that go by a color other than black you'll have at least one walking advertisement in the great state of Michigan.
