Post subject:  Thank you Mr. Bradbury

While he lived a full life, his passing is still one of loss. His many contributions, literary and otherwise, have shaped part of our culture beyond science fiction and fantasy. I thank you for your enduring support of the written word, creativity, imagination, and all the inspiration you have seeded in generations of people.

A good, full, amazing life- RIP, RB!
He wrote a very beautiful short piece in the latest New Yorker (and I highly recommend that issue- their first Sci-Fi themed issue- to everyone here, anyway) that’s all the more poignant now for its timing.

Sad news, ultrakaiju...
Interesting news, ungawa222...

My introduction to the master's name was actually the TV miniseries The Martian Chronicles, plenty SF, but the first book of his I laid my ha. nds on was Dandelion Wine, a particularly Un-SF family novel that took place in a very real 1920s America. It still managed to hook me, and many a yellowed RB paperback follow me wherever I go.

A very touching tribute to Bradbury by Neil Gaiman. It says a lot about the value of people (and their contributions) beyond themselves. With all those we've lost this year, and every year, we are losing a part of the greater identity we once knew.
