Post subject:  Display case lighting

I have been searching around for the perfect lighting for my detolf and struggling to find exactly what I'm after. I'd like to have lighting on each shelf and the possibility of switching to black light, I don't know if this is possible or not and figure i would need 2 sets of lights to do this. If any one wants to post some inspirational pictures of their own displays that would be great. Any help with suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Quick iPhone pic. Edited to not offend. One set of Ikea Dioder lights in each Detolf, one on the underside of each shelf. I also have an Ikea track light that's on the ceiling above my shelves that points at the shelves and gives them great front-side illumination. I love my lights setup.

Edit: I just realized that I left my Biskup shelf unedited. Deal with it. Oh, and I'm in the process of working out the display of the bottom right shelf, hence the random lonely toys down there.

Yes to dioder lights.

This thread made me go out and replace my older lights, only 1 at the top, with these. Not that I turn my lights on that often anymore.

The lighting look very cool on these James! I only have the single ones at the top which do wonders for the top but kind of forget the bottom. I've wanted to use those strips because I think remember someone who had them and it worked really well.

as far as compact black light go look for some haligen light arms and swap out the bulbs for these http://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/led-household-bulbs/filter/Color,UV,3,31: I have a large hex case with halogens built in that I plan to upgrade to a glow case

I want to do something like this as well but as well as the ordiary lighting. When i was running back through previous lighting threads i someone saying theirs didn't work that well and wanted to pick up a standard black light. do you think he just had cheap bulbs? have you seen these running?

Not privy to any blacklight options, but definitely an advocate of the Dioder lights. Plus, they come in both circles and strips as shown here.

The photo obviously caught a mean glare, but they really do look beautiful in person.

Where can you buy bookcase lighting? I've looked at IKEA (which most people go to..) but they don't ship or SELL in California.

This isn't just for toys...I just want lights on my bookcase.

Why don't you have a boar member close to Ikea, do the legwork, if I lived close to there, I'd hook you up.

Really bryce? No CA? Are you sure? I was just checking out Dioder lights on the Ikea site and it does give the option to buy them online in NY and CA definitely. Of course they rape you on shipping though.

Yeah...I'm looking at the 'over the bookcase' lights like FORMAT/NON/STOLKHOLM etc and all of them say they don't have them in CA. It's quite bizarre.

it's odd, but you can purchase quite a few ikea items through amazon.com. i believe some of those lights, like stockholm, are listed for sale there.

I'm actually in the middle of building a new shelf for all of my Boogies... no way they'd fit in the same Detolf these days. Let her know she can expect a few updated photos soon
