I'm looking into a home surveillance system and wanted to know if anyone here has any recommendations. Some of you are aware of the knucklehead that I live next door to. Restraining order filed! As well as the recent theft going on in the neighborhood. So I have decided to invest in a system. Nothing drug kingpin, but something that will allow me to view, record and see on my iPhone if I'm away.

I have been looking into various Lorex systems, but I'm hoping for some feedback here, if any. Thanks

We are having the same problem here actually. Two apts were robbed in broad daylight in the building next to ours a few weeks ago. Scary thing is I was here that day and these people were so good I didn't even hear anything. Apparently they took the doors right out of the walls. I've emailed our landlord (who is a lawyer -go figure!) over an over and he keeps promising he's on top of it, but you know how it is- raising rents is always justified by operating costs but you never really see him actually putting anything into these apts- but that's another story.

Anyhow me and my g/f have be quite active in this because police don't give a shit. She started a email for the block, asking neighbors to share any suspicious behavior they see. Kim was also looking into getting a gun permit prior to this and now we've sped up that process. I sort of half joked to my neighbor if someone actually tries to break into my apt while I'm here they won't be leaving alive. I think if someone did I wouldn't think twice about hurting them badly. We're also getting this camera next week:

D-Link makes some excellent indoor web cameras that have built in IP addresses (no computer needed).
Just connect it to your router (wired or wireless) and set it up.
The phone app is for both iPhone and Android.
There are options for motion detection allerts and still images/video recording.
Those settings can be a little tricky and you need a computer to login to the camera to edit,
but to get a constant, live look into your home there isn't really any settings to change.
It's simple to use if that's all you want.
D-Link DCS-something series of cameras.
I'm sure they have outdoor cameras too.
This camera doesn't need any additional "hub" or anything
and you can add cameras, they show up individually in the app.

This camera looks great.
Excellent price for an outdoor camera.

Thanks gang.

This here is the culprit I speak of;

After backing his car from his driveway, across the street and up neighbors driveway and into his house. Then trying to blame the poor workers doing yard work in his backyard
