Hello everyone. I am finally going to purchase some airbrush paint and am trying to pick between the 2. I know there are threads talking about V-Color, but I would enjoy other board members experience with each, especially those that have used both and may now stick to one. Specific questions I'd like info on are: -Which has been easier to work with in regards to reducing the paint and clean up. -Are there any issues with the airbrush after use, even if cleaned correctly. -When mixing the respective brands with their own line, do they have any weird issues? Any other technical information would be helpful. I understand some of you do not like MK for whatever reason, that's fine. Keep it on the other threads, this is just for tech info. |

Honestly they are both good paints for different areas For more brittle harder stuff , hard plastic and resin I use monster 100% of the time. I started with monster and just use it b/c I have a lot. But personally soft vinyl. V-color. It just bonds to it. You have to get the right consistancy or it spider webs like a cotton candy machine. I like that you don't have to use clear coat. I really do like v color. But with that said, you can get monster thinner at the hardware store. And order it readily, and all the pearls are usually pre mixed. I actually prefer mixing my own colors, I prefer controlling the pearls that are in the metallics. I strongly suggest trying them both..... But hear what others say first. But I like v color A LOT for soft vinyl |

For soft vinyl V-Color was made specifically for it and there really are no issues other than adjusting how much you thin it. You can mix any colors together with no adverse effects. The only problem I see is how easy it is to get in the US, and from what I've been able to find out is that no one sells the thinner. Some people say you can use Methyl Isobutyl Ketone to thin it but I have never tried that personally. You can also add pearl and metallic powders easily too with no trouble, just be careful that the flake you use is small enough to spray through your brush tip. I have no comments on Monster Color as I've never used it. |

So v-color needs to be thinned from the bottle? What if its poured directly into the airbrush? |

There is a whole thread about v-color, http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=17489 read through it, there is really good info in there about using v-color, airbrushes, MIBK, safety equipment, etc. I would like to hear more about other people's experiences vis a vis MK and V. I haven't had much luck with MK so far, the pearls and effects are nice but you have to put so much clear coat on to get it to really pop. I've been using V color for a couple of months now with no issues other than the occasional spiderweb. It's difficult to get but worth what it takes to get it here, in my opinion. |

V Color is made with unicorn horns which is why its so spendy but also magical. Monster Color's main ingredient is sewage hence everything it touches = shitty. |
