Has anyone else picked any of the Pacific Rim figures (by NECA) up?

I picked up the Crimson Typhoon figure on my lunch break today. I would've picked up the others, but they were all sold out.

That's pretty rad dude! I want one of the Russian ones that looks similar to a Baltan.

I'm actually pretty excited for these, as well. I'm waiting on the supposed 14" scaled figures. A buddy of mine told me those were coming soon, so I don't know if it's credible or he just misread. Hoping!

7″ Pacific Rim Action Figures Series 1

Post subject:  Re: Pacific Rim toys

Seems to be really limited merchandising so far.

Only 3 figures in series 1. Series 2 has been announced, but I haven't seen a release date yet. It's another 3 figures for series 2:

Stricker Eureka (Australian jaeger)
Leatherback (gorilla kaiju)
and another Gipsy Danger: this time, Battle Damaged

seems really odd to do a second Gipsy Danger with so many other figures they could have done. Also why are the jaegers outnumbering kaiju 2 to 1?

Does anyone know if the glow lines/tribal tattoos on the monsters are just for looks or if there is supposed to be some function to them?

Love that Leatherback toy. My favorite monster from the film.

Good question. While watching the film I assumed that the markings were one of the indications pertaining to the kaijus' origin, namely that they were designed for a purpose by an intelligent colonizing species. Beyond that I haven't seen anything specific.

Ahhh! I saw this last night and I'm so worked up about it. Loved it. I really liked how there were echoes of different things in every mech/kaiju but nothing was super derivative. Leatherback was such a "Kong" I almost wanted to see him fight the other monster in the scene.

Looks like my most desired Jager isn't in Series 2, I hope they make it to Series 3 so I can get my precious CHERNO ALPHA toys. ;)

thanks for posting these! I've been looking around ,but no luck. Is Toys R Us the only place , besides online, to buy them?

Just saw the movie, and have to say, for whatever kind of movie they make these days, I can't believe there aren't better toys for Pacific Rim. I mean, compared to any other blockbusters that causes the shelves of Target/Toys 'r Us/Zellers etc to be crammed to the teets with merchandising, I dont get where it is for PR. Kenner/Hasbro/Bandai/whatever has sure dropped the ball on this one. I mean, yeah, the Neca toys look great and are no doubt fantastic quality, but I would want some I can play with and bash around. I want 'action figures', not McFarlane style realism to put on a shelf. Sure, as a nerd maybe I am in the minority, but there is no way that any average kid wouldn't want to play with some of these toys, movie or no. So many great aspects of the characters just dying to be created in plastic - I don't get the lack of it, and am very sad about it too. In a summer of terrible movies, I really don't know why the studios wouldn't jump all over PR for toys, fast-food tie ins, premiums, etc, etc. One more reason I have no idea what Hollywood uses for a brain these days.

Actually they are going to be 18". Gipsy Danger is coming very soon and is pre-sold out nearly everywhere. The 1/4 scale Knifehead has been announced, but no pre-orders yet.

I bought series one of the 7" but gave them up in favor of the 18".

Evidently they've been selling waaaaay better than expected.
