I'll make it a point to go around and gather some stuff for this fighter. This is a super rad idea and incredibly generous of you to put together. |

i know sdcc is long past, but just wanted to thank those that helped contribute. some people even mailed stuff to give to my patient. i gave him everything yesterday and he was stoked and wants to make it out to sdcc next year. thanks to a good friend, a badge might be able to be secured for him for next year. thanks again everybody! |

This is one of the best things I've seen done on SB. Awesome work by all that got involved and were able to help. |

doesn't posting this picture go against HIPAA rules? I also work in the medical field... regardless, this is an awesome thing you've done, and i'm sure your patient is elated at what you've been able to do for him |

his mother was telling me to post his pictures/ youtube videos of his public speeches on my facebook to share his story. so i was thinking that a picture without a name would be fine. im familiar with patient privacy, but not the specifics. if i have to take it down, i can |

no no, just making sure you are cool. i'm fine to see it up, really. i would just hate for this to have a negative consequence, especially since this all comes from a good place. |

However, the verbal "consent" of his mother doesn't release the hospital from liability and posting pictures is definitely releasing identifiable information which is also connected to health information (MD) from your first post. So this would be a HIPAA violation. Chances are nothing will come from this, but just wanted to let you know so you can decide what you want to do - as hellscrape said, I'd hate for something negative to come from something positive. |

so i talked with my patient ( i am friends with him on facebook) and he said it would be great to post the picture. he actually also wants to thank everyone personally who donated stuff. not exactly sure how he'll be doing that just yet, but i'll make it happens somehow. im not sure if 'facebook messanger' constitutes as a written consent, so i'll still hold off on posting pictures or anything. but thanks for all the help and to NT and hellscrape as well for the HIPAA info. hopefully some of you guys can meet him in person if he gets badges for sdcc |

Whereas HIPPA is questionable if YOU post something, if he sends it to someone else, its gravy? |
