Got these pics via this site (via other sites):
http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/exclusive ... 196450.php

I hope these aren't the real pics.. because they look nothing like transformers. It would be a bummer because now I don't care about seeing the movie.

Tell me it ain't so... flames on Optimus. I'd rather they just used the 18 wheeler from Maximun Overdrive.

Planet of the Apes with Marky Mark instead of Chuck Heston, Tim Burton will have to live with that demon for the rest of his life.

Hollywood, please stop killing our childhood heros.

i actually really dug tim's version a lot. great set and character visuals but i didn't have a special place in my heart for the original.

oh yeah...i'm not feeling the pics at the top of this thread though. too organic to be transformers.

a good friend of mine went down to the closed transformers set while they were filming a few weeks ago. he got to run around on the set and jump on things, etc
he said it rocks and is very true to form, and he is a gigantic transformers nerd

Takara/Hasbro wants to really push the toy line that'll be tied into the film, but expect at least one G1 scene...
on the up side Bumblebee looks much better than any of his current toys, and the orginal DVD's are out.

Not to doubt your friend's opinion, but how would he know if they were being true to form? (like the pun, btw) The robots are CGI, so it's not like he would have seen them during filming.

beats me.
from what he told me, they have large robots there as props, etc, on the set. he mentioned jumping on optimus prime.
other than that, i have no idea. i am not a big transformers fan

How the heck is that supposed to turn into a VW Beetle?

Even more importantly, how can they make a toy of it that turns into a VW Beetle?
