What do you think of this site? I wrote something about it then just decided it would be easier to poll and see how people feel..

Yeah, it's a pretty cool resource. I'll post the link so folks don't have to google: http://lowbrownie.com/

When people scratch their heads and wonder why they can't ever win a lottery for *insert hyped toy here* look no further than blogs like this! Guy has an account here, doesn't post and basically syphons any info posted. Debate over...

Completely agree with lixx. Also, we should remove the link since you're only directing traffic to it.

My other problem with this is that it gives info away just like that. If they reported after the fact and with an actual editorial and not their copy paste articles, the hobby would benefit more.

I get a lot of people are into the whole silent treatment, and lowbrownie or other blogs break that code. But she also listens to complaints of that nature and said he wont post lotteries anymore. I find info on there thats NO WHERE on SB. Artists tend to post on IG now, twiiter, facebook etc and he pulls stuff from there. He for example posted info about the new cadaver twins toy splurrt was releasing, getting his info off IG, and posting pics that still arent even on this site. I find it to be a great blog to keep up on releases but understand peoples hesitation. I dont personally get the whole keep your cards close to chest thing but i also dont collect a lot of super limited or lottery based toys where his posts might be bringing more attention to a release than i would like.

Who's against the dissemination of information? It's kind of spooky. I think I've just encountered the dark side of the hobby.

Highly sought-after figures where the only option to win is a lotto. When blogs do all of the work and basically hand you the exact time frame to enter... Die-hard fans who check the artist's website (and social media) daily are naturally going to be pissed.

Having an account or not info can be syphoned over, nothing on the internet is that secret, I've scored toys from checking blogs so I'm not going to complain about them, I think lowbrownie is a pretty decent

I'm not knocking lb, they're probably the most up-to-date blog around...
The correlation between the "dissemination of information" and size of a lottery pool should be obvious to everyone. That's the sticky subject matter, behind this or any blog of its nature.

I totally thought that this was going to be about something less innocuous and more stinky.

Aaaaaaand, whatever info of a new toy pops up here, mysteriously appear on that "blog" in a matter of minutes.

BUT IT'S HIS JOB, LEAVE LOWBROWNIE ALONE!!!

I blame producers. If your toy is hyped, increase run sizes. Or make everything timed releases. Will keep people who like the toys for what they are. Everything else is driving the hype and a recipe for disaster (see comics, sports cards, designer toys, etc.).

wasn't increasing the run sizes of hyped comics what destroyed the scene?

I don't see how this site is any different from the old Kaiju Chronicle, that everyone used to rave about and was so sad to see dry up.

I can't help equate this whole thing to kids having hissy fits when their favourite bands get signed to a major label/start playing a larger venue/are being played on some other kid's stereo down the street..

Who cares if there are more entries to lotteries. Boo hoo if the scene isn't as underground as you want it to be.. Anyway in Japan it's mainstream as fuck.. The more people who get exposed to the figures & appreciate them enough to buy them = creators can afford to produce more of their designs, which means more variety for us to buy the figures that we really connect with and want in our collections.

Sure there's the flipping side of things but there's shit in every toilet bowl..

You have just as much of a chance of winning if there's 5 entries or 500.. Either you win or you don't. That's life. Lowbrownie is a great resource and probably the best blog out there for news right now as far as this genre goes.. Especially if you're stuck in a cultureless country like Australia :P

That's not how probability works.
