Hey Guys,

I've posted bits and pieces and i know others have too...

BUT i thought it would be a good idea to get a proper thread for the Trash Pack toys by Moose (outta Australia).

Damn fun mini toys, soft rubber, cool sculpts, great concept, great packaging and art and cheap! AND that 90's gross craze is back.

Pic below of some of mine:

So anyone else into 'em?

People hate 'em? Like 'em?

Oh god I've spent so much money on these cause my son thinks he needs them all!!! There's so many different variations and sets out there. Target has the exclusive ghost sets. Crazy shit.

Just like MUSCLE when I was a kid. greg you son is screwed he is going to be a toy collector too. (Or maybe really embarrassed to have his friends over to your house because of the toys)

Yeah, they're certainly better made and more interesting than most of the kids 'micro-collectables' i've seen.
I look forward to buying a Tupperware box full of 'em at a boot-sale or charity shop, for very little money, in a year or two . . .

It's a never ending cycle. I just came in tonight and saw another set. It looked like a small dumpster or some crazy thing.

... AND for those interested in the buiness behind toys, links below to a 2004 + a 2012 article on 'Moose Toys' (the company who produces the Trash Pack).

Interesting to see just how much the Trash Pack saved Moose + also led to it expanding internationally.

PLUS Moose is wholly independent, which is something to be commended i think.

My kid has been collecting these bloody things. He gives Daddy all the doubles :) They are pretty cool though. I like the 'ghost trashies' - the see-thru ones. I have more plastic trash cans and toilets than I know what to do with!

...i had no idea about this!!!

Can't wait.

I mean i LOVE the original 1980's line 'Germs', and a Trash Pack tribute/re-boot should be grand!

Germs were such a great line but they are hard to find these days.

Here's a press release from a few days ago.

Quote:
THE TRASH PACK™ – FALL 2014
This Fall, Moose Toys introduces the sickest collection yet of the grossly popular boys collectible, The Trash Pack™: Series 7 Junk Germs! Housed in test tube and beaker bins, Junk Germs features more than 150 new Trashies™, with all new teams including Germ Worms, Vicious Virus, Pet Germs, Household Germs and all new Limited Edition Super Snot characters, plus a rotten vehicle kids can use to clean up their ‘trash.’

There are a few mock up images out as well but it's all art and concept stuff. Haven't seen any actual images of the toys yet.

Personally I get all the stuff that comes out for a toy line I enjoy but most of it goes to friend's kids and I just keep what I really like for myself. It's just fun for my to grab toys like this that are so cheap compared to the vinyl stuff I like.

Greg - personally, i really dislike the Car Trashies. Why? They kinda just all look the same. I mean they are all 4 wheel cars.

...kinda just feel they loose most if not all of what makes the Trashies so cool usually - the vast array of totally varied sculpts.

And Waterbear - MAN. I am 100% behind you about the Trashies being so addictive + well... fun due to being so affordable!

... HOPE you guys don't mind... But i figured i'd share some of my Trash Pack phone photos.

Big bunch, did my best to only pick interesting shots.

Gives people a good idea of just how detailed + varied the sculpts on these guys are...

AND caus they are small, they are damn easy to take round and well... play with. :D

Those are great! I love when people take high-end pictures of low-end toys. I don't think this stuff gets enough respect from much of the toy world. I love stuff like this and m.u.s.c.l.e figures and japanese keshi and even failed american lines like s.l.u.g zombies. It would pretty cool if someone like you who shows off lots of great vinyl also went out of his way to showcase the cheap stuff that some of us enjoy so much.

Love love LOVE the clear Zag with the Trashie guts, i'm totally stealing this idea!

I agree with the cars though, I just don't feel the same about those as I do the little characters and their variations. I really like the little pumpkin fella.

I really like the photography though, very inspiring! I like taking pictures of my He-Man stuff like this, maybe i'll dabble with some trashies too...

anyone picked up the game on IPhone? I can only play it for a minute or two, then I feel nauseous because it moves so bloody fast!

MAN, i sent Trash Pack/Moose an email hoping for an Art Talk interview. KINDA think it may be one of those times when my sites name get's in the way.

I can see it now:

"Mommy, i want to read the interview with the Trashies"

"Well dear, i'll go to the site for you now..."

*pause as mother notices site name*

*said under breath* "ART WHORE!!!"

*pause as mother looks at header image*

"WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY STUDDED DILDOS??!!"

etc.

BUT if anyone knows how to get me in touch??!!!

P.S.

Thanks for the heads-up about S.L.U.G Zombies. DAMN cool.

I had never heard of 'em.

S.L.U.G zombies were pretty damn cool. Every single figure was a mash-up of pop cult references. Some based off individual people or characters and some actually a mix of different people in one figure. Lots of historical references as well. Who doesn't love a zombie Andre the Giant and Bruce Lee and Superman in the same pack? Plus there were flesh colored zombie hunter figures based on people like Crocodile Dundee and Tomb Raider and the dude from Shaun of the Dead. Unfortunately the line died before it was completed. Even worse was that the next series was set to be based on legendary monsters and it was canned as well.

Here's the poster with all the figures that came out though towards the bottom are the ones that never saw the light of day. It's a BIG image though so I'll just leave a link.

...many many thanks for the link! DAMN cool poster.

Funny. I wonder why the Trash Packs got so damn huge + stuff like the S.L.U.Gs just died.

KINDA think it may be the violent/horror aspect.

Parents are fine with buying kids gross things, but violent! THAT is a hard sell.

My son bought those zombies. I really like those also. Toys r us used to have a coffin shaped box with a maybe 6 in there?? Not sure. The last time I was there they had some of the 3-packs on an end cap for around $2. My son had those ones so I passed on them. For that price not sure why I didn't get them for myself :?
