Okay, so how is everybody not going nuts over this? Smart, demented, absurd, hilarious, infinitely quotable and at times even genuinely touching, this might just be my new favorite animated show ever. Can't wait to watch the last two episodes tonight; and then the whole season again.

^ Right there with you! I've been trying to convince a few folk here that it's mandatory viewing but to no avail. The good news is that it's already been renewed, so there's plenty of time for the world to catch up with this little patch of disarming genius.

Roiland and Harmon need to be household names for sure.

It's not a bad day for animation at all, as there's also a new Regular Show special and a fresh episode of Archer airing. Good times.

Glad I'm not alone on this one, thought for a minute I had slipped into a dimension ruled by robots - oh wait...

Just wanted to chime in real quick and say that I love this show. My favorite episode is when Rick gets cable from other dimensions.

This show is simply brilliant. Ridiculously surreal, absurd, and wrong, wrong, wrong. So much I love about this show. It caught me completely off guard. This is my favorite show to come out probably in years... not that I watch that much TV, but still!

Are you obsessed with Rick and Morty yet? The discs are out so now's the time - get on it!

Nearly a half hour of excellent chat with Justin Roiland:

Best to ignore it if you haven't already memorized the series; he talks about the whole run.

-"Ugh... Sorry, Jerry, you're real."
-"I'M A PARASITE..!!!"
-"Yeah, but you're real."

Also, best. Ending. In. The. History. Of. Television. I want to marry Harmon & Roiland.

Sweet Jebus...
Not a lot of new faces in this thread, bunnyboy. How do we muscle some eyes away from the Walking Deads of the world and over to some worthy Sunday night entertainment?

Anyone watch Uncle Grandpa? Another insane animated series.

^ I had a look at the pilot - I was drawn to the very Don Martinesque cartooning in the ads - but ended up shutting it off pretty quickly. I admit that 10 minutes isn't much of a chance to give a series...

^^ My daughter is a rabid Steven Universe fan, and was veeery upset at the Uncle Grandpa crossover episode. She spent quite a bit of time explaining to me how the episode was not Steven Universe "cannon". At 11 she is already indoctrinated into geek culture.

I started re-watching season 1 of R&M last night, wondering if my kid would like it. But then I hit episode 2 where they Inception into the schoolteacher's dreams where Rick strips down to a leather thong and Morty's sister shakes her jugs at him, and I thought, hmmm.

Ha, I watched a clip from Uncle Grandpa and all the deliberately wacky characters immediately made me think of the last Rick & Morty episode again... Speaking of which: I'm not at all for sanitized kid's entertainment, but I really wouldn't consider R&M appropriate for kids - the season so far has had about three endings that were harsh beyond belief (not to mention the episode where Rick has an orgy with an entire planet)!

The documentary "Harmontown" about Dan Harmon's podcast tour and history with people he's worked with is playing on Netflix right now. I thought it provided some insight into one of the sick minds behind Rick Sanchez. Harmon is a self-described "self-destructive" person, and admits to sucking other people into his personal self-hate vortex. Seems like a pretty close match for Rick's character.

Where are my testicles Summer?

Heard about this show, but assumed it was similar to Adventure Time and/or Regular Show (which seem to have a couple avid fans here). But after sitting through a couple episodes of both, I couldn't get into into them in the slightest (and still don't get why they're so popular).

Completely opposite story here. Just watched the first 2 episodes on adultswim.com... and I'm hooked.

Thanks a TON for the recommendation fellas!

Thx, I didn't know about this. Great documentary; interesting how much of an outlet for Harmon's destructive and sociopathic tendencies Rick seems to be. And Spencer just seems like a really wonderful human being.
