I also picked this up for about $4 from a toyshop in HK. Great reference guide, glad you picked it up as well. Problem I have are names that I cannot read in Japanese, and also English names are more widely used in the USA etc. and slow to pick up that vocabulary as well. Learning a lot of names on this forum.

Try getting the Medicom bible and Bearbrick one also, if you are into that. I have seen them on eBay now and then.

have be@rbrick and kubrick books too.
really nice ones. wasnt sure about getting kubrick
but this one is great too. sadly they dont have
the cool variants of the RAH 197 UNKLE (pink, blue and green) in
that were limited to 100.

A friend of a friend put out a book called Plastic Culture

http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Culture-J ... 4770030177

It's more about the origins and history of Japanese toy culture and there's a bit on how it spawned the designer toy scene. BXH, Lau and a few other Eastern artists are featured.
Nicely researched and well written. I recommend it. But as someone else said check it at a book store first.

The Saito books are good for vintage stuff, be it diecast or vinyl.

Can someone post a pic of the cover of the Get On Street Figure Bible? Or a link to some images?

I picked up the Plastic Culture book...I wanted to scoff at it, but I must say, it is well written and the photos in there are gorgeous...great, albeit small, book.

For those that have the new Medicom books...I have the larger Medicom Toys one, should I bother getting the Kubrick and Bearbrick editions? i.e. is there any additional information/photos in those?

just headed over to a local bookshop
and was surprised to have a look in both:

"dot dot dash" (1) and "i am plastic" (2)

2 huge books about toys! :o
some nice pictures in both
but mostly decent toys though.
some better stuff left aside
no kaws no futura in both!?!
in (2) also missing m-lau and e-so .

feature of james jarvis totally blown in (2)
showing the least wanted pieces like flocked king kens
but only 1 small silas martin. also u will find the most boring
selection of be@rbricks in (2). compared to these even dummies
looking good on the next couple of sides.

a little part of sb and bxh in both.
in (1) a lot of ghostfighters (bad dark fotos)
but a cool group shot of silver and gold blobpuses though!
in (2) really nice fotos of sb and bxh worth buying it.

sadly no gargamel in both of em.
all in all (2) seemed to be a little bid more classy
and bigger, so i got me this one...

...and ordered "plastic culture"
hope to find more eastern stuff in this one -
an objective selection of toys would be great.

...then picked up long awaited koons supreme skatedecks. love em.
now being home as theres not much money left for the rest of
the weekend. happy collecting!

anyone have the "Garden Toyz Book"???
