Been hit by the indy bug again. Dusting off my Indy Dvd and watching it again.
Just finish watching Temple of doom. I been wondering, how underrated this follow up was. With the movie dark overtones and it's rare glimpse of indian culture and fables. This shows that indy was the man of the people, seldom seen Hollywood movies interacting with asians.
Of course Raiders and Grail is the favourite for all but Temple is the link to show Indys selfless act.

I only hope that Indy 4 is worthy, I remember the TV series, Young indiana jones was really hard for me. I can never see anybody else playing Young Indy other then River Phoenix.

I was bit by the "Indy bug" like a month ago. Temple is really cool but I love the first one...it is just awesome. Hell no! Indy 4? Why? :x

you know indy took that little Asian boy and adopted him. He then forced him to clean up after him and his house. Made him cook, clean and do laundry. I knew that Indy had ulterior motives.

And since we never see Shortround in Raiders or Holy Grail, I'm convinced that Indy killed him, cooked him, and ate him when he started saying "no" to doing the household chores.

I never knew about the droids in Raiders until recently:

i think it's his whip that made him do the work.

i revisit the trilogy once a year. Like Star Wars and LOTR.

I think Indy left Shortround in Asia....where he can still be found making the Nike's that I'm wearing.

Weird but true Fact: I went to junior high/high school with ol' Shortround.

Arise, thread of yore!

A bit random I s'pose, but I am sure there are more than a few fans of Indy here. Amazon has the blu-ray set featured on its Gold Box deal today, the three films (sans special edition additions I hope  ) for a measly 38.99$. Seems like a great bargain to me, plus you get a bonus BD to use as a coaster or impress your friends with in the microwave.

Fortune and glory, kid.

I just realised that people were speculating on Indy 4 when this thread was started. Oh, to go back to those times and unknow what we have seen....

I actually just found out that Temple of Doom was a prequel to Raiders and Last Crusade. All this time, I always thought it was just the "second" film in the series. Which technically it was, released second, but took place first before the others.

And I remember the commercial breaks for McDonalds Chicken Nugget Happy Meals from my recorded VHS copied I would watch over and over again.

I seriously have those commercial breaks memorized. Its weird watching the film in its entirety without them...

I never really thought of the Indy series as going together in that sense. Since it was kind of a tribute to serialised pulp adventure stories, I look at each one individually - think the James Bond stories, well the original ones anyways. There is some connection between them of course, but I like this view on storytelling, rather than an overarcing thread or series. I find it also makes sequels/prequels or whatever better in that they are forced to stand up on their own merits. I really miss movie making like that. But yep, time-wise ToD takes place before Raiders.

I know exactly what you mean by the commercials. Since I grew up overseas, a lot of the TV and movies I was raised on came on VHS tapes I played over and over until they wore out. One of these that I remember precisely each of the commercials between was on the made for TV Ewok movies.

Totally. But his character is a bit of a cool schmuck in the Temple, then in the later movies he's all about the "It belongs in the museum!" I just felt like it made his character development more sense. In a New-James Bond kind of way.
But yeah, I do miss that "individuality" of structure like these films and many others had.

And I miss Harrison Ford being a badass...
