So I was watching a report about unclaimed property and the fact that the goverment could be holding money that belongs to you. So I thought, hell, why not. It's free to check. Logged onto my state webside and bingo......I have an unclaimed paycheck from a job in 2002. It's almost $500. Christmas has been good to me.

This is awesome, thanks for the tip! I checked my state's site and found out I wasn't listed, but my mom was. I'm hoping the dollar amount is worth the effort of filling out the forms.

Hey, that's great. Be sure and check all the states you've lived in. I've lived in Mn and Ia, but Mn was the only one i left money behind in......... So far. And I was able to e-mail them and get the $ amount before having to fill out the forms.

Baikin, just Google "california unclaimed property" and you'll find the site.

For everyone else in the US, substitute "california" with your state.

For everyone else outside the US, nyah nyah.

After filing the form out a couple of months ago, my mom finally got a response: they had $250 for her from an ten-year-old life insurance policy, and they said there might be even more money waiting for her.

Now she wants to treat me to dinner for helping out with this. We're going to Wendy's, but I can only choose 3 items from the 99 cent value menu. She's the greatest.
