Post subject:  Collecting guilt.

Not sure if you want to indulge (and hesitant to post a new thread) but I have been addicted to buying toys for over 8-9 years, but lately I am totally hooked with Kaiju.

Not sure if this has been discussed before but I was wondering how much do you guys n' gals spend a month on toys on average? I haven't worked out one for myself, and now I see my credit card is about over $2000 on toys alone this month. I am fucked.

I know it's to do with me getting into a totally new genre. I have been trying to put off Neo Kaiju stuff since January but being on this forum has made me go crazy with joy of finding new life in collecting. But now I am completely burnt.

Also I blame on all of you for showing how much you love these toys!! I hate you!!

I have to cut down...

I'm with you clamster . . . this months CC's gonna hit $2k on toys and that's on top of the Paypal stash I had ready for the Dissected Kaws. Between SB, Gargamel, Kaws, Michael Lau and a new lil' obsession it's been a tough month!

The good news is it's finally forced me to start offloading those damn [expletive deleted]!

Unfortunately series 1 has some sentimental value . . . whether it's $700-800 worth of sentimental value still has to be decided

Sell them. You will find it to be a purging and uplifting experience. It is like some of proof that you aren't really an addict... (ha, ha).

For passion. I started collecting only in July and it has amounted to $1,000. To think that I have stop collecting toys for about 5 yrs. This genre is so cool, I have to have it. I agree with geo, it's all about the Collecting, not guilt.

This was my worst personal month in a long time. I broke 6k between stuff from S7 and stuff from my contacts in Japan. I dont usually spend that much unless I'm in Japan myself. I still havent picked up a dissected companion and we have the Halloween SB and RXH stuff coming. I might end up trying to off some of the stuff I wanted to offer for trade this week but there's SO much coming out and it's not going to stop. I've passed on original work from Jeff Soto, Joshua Petker and Camille Rose Garcia as well as two different Mark Ryden prints. I just cant keep the art supply going while indulging myself with so much vinyl. I'll go back to work right now repeating my mantra "It's not an addiction, it's not an addiction."

My Mantra is :

Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion,Pasion. I say it 1,000 x a day and I know my life saving is going in the way of the Dodo bird.

If you are buing beyond your means, don't be crazy and rack up loads of credit. At least the things you are buying will hold some value for awhile. Just dont dig yourself in a hole, or a bigger hole!

Good advice! Hence the yard sale for when next months bill hits :D

There does seem to be some relly nice pieces coming out recently though . . . along with tons of mediocre landfill!

Well the good news is my house is paid for. Honestly it was just a bad month for me. I think for the most part I try to stick to my under 2k a month allowance and most of the time I am well under that max cap. But everyone who says not to spend outside your limits is right. While we all get caught with the collecting bug and you cant miss those "rare" pieces putting yourself in a hole for it can bring a ton of unwanted stress. Always have some sort of threshold. I dont think any of us want to read about something terrible happening to someone here because they couldnt afford rent, etc.

For one second I felt better that I am not that crazy. My wife just said to me, "yeah knowing you, that's your budget for next month." For once I like to think of her as never wrong :P
