This older eastern european woman has been calling me a lot, I interviewed her awhile ago, but have not been able to place her due to her skill-set not being up to par with the jobs i have to fill. So today, she came into the office, to see if I had any openings. She pulled me aside, away from my desk and co-workers and said in a thick accent: "What is your name again?" "Missy." "oh, Yes Missy. Missy. Come here. Put out your hand. I brought you a Holiday Gift" So i did, and she palmed a tiny black velvet bag into my hand. The bag said "Swarvoski" on it. I didn't open it right away, but she looked at me very excitedly and said 'Open it" Reluctantly, I peeked inside. It was incredibly awkward, and I said "it is beautiful" She then said "Take it out!" and i pulled it out to discover a heart shaped crystal necklace on a gold chain. Definitely not something I'd ever wear. I said "I can't accept this. Thank you. It is beautiful, but I can't..." She insisted "No! It is for you, and pusehd it back at me. I hope that you can find me job. I want to work very much." I just about cried. When she left, I turned to my coworkers stunned & confused and said "I think I was just bribed." My coworker Joyce, of Eastern European descent, confirmed, and said that in some cultures, that's just how you get ahead. very weird, but endearing. |

Watching the pics of the guy dying, and then reading about hot spots in central London. From what I understand it is fatal onluy when ingested, but I can't imagine that proximity is much good either. |
