love this line: "bits of sodium essence can be trapped in the foil hollows"

Interesting - I guess I was one of those who thought it was a corporate invention. It was a stroke of genius, that's for sure. Anyone who's ever been in a band owes this man a lot.

I will pour half my soup out for my fallen homey.

I was once approached by Oprah's camera crew in downtown Chicago. They were doing a show on gratitude and were interviewing "the people" to find out what they were grateful for. I really had no idea what I was going to talk about until the cameraman started rolling. I had to go with whatever came to my head, and that was ramen. I hit all the key points: ease of preparation, cost, and taste. When it was all over the producer gave me a blank "thank you" and a clipboard with a release form. Oh well. Much to my surprise, a month later it aired in a montage leading to a commercial break. The good people at Oprah's production team added a flying graphic of a bowl of ramen flying across the screen just to get the point across.
