i'll be in the hood on saturday and am open to suggestions for cool spots to check out, incl stores, food (keep in mind i am vegan) and touristy crap. thanks |

Walk down the street to the Japanese Mall, its alot bigger than it looks.The first building has a cool Japanes dollar store upstairs.The second Building has all kinds of Rad shit, especially the Japanese book store.Oh and it has a couple Crepe shops that looked really good. |

yeah, definitely stop by the bookstore. I don't know if you're into Adidas, but Harputs is nearby. Their prices are mixed, but sometimes you'll find something cool there 1527 Fillmore St. |

The De Young museum in Golden Gate park was awesome. Head straight upstairs to the African Art exhibit http://www.thinker.org/deyoung/collections/collection.asp?collectionkey=36 . Equally cool was the exhibit featuring stuff from New Guinea and Oceana -- scary cool head hunter stuff and death masks. Golden Gate Park itself is really nice too. We had breakfast on Haight, hit Giant Robot and walked thru the park to the museum (about 20-30 minutes away). |
