I recently got 2 dvd sets of season 1 and 2 and have been enjoying them tremendously and having flashbacks to when I was a kid. I guess I just wanted to start a generic Ultraman thread for conversations sake cuz I'm dying to talk about the show now. So, anybody know why the theme song sung in english translation is so different than the english subtitles?

Just watched the Baltan episode last night and man it was good!

Those sets are great! The video quality is not the best, but probably the best they could do for 3 disc sets that sells for a little over $20. The video quality is good enough to see the wires on the spaceships and the seams in the kaiju suits, though. And the Science Patrol-mobile has rekindled my desire for a Corvair!

Oh these are great!
After I watched the Jiras episode (the Godzilla with frills!) I actually had a dream that he was right outside my window one night while I was trying to go to bed, but only like 6 ft tall and he kept swaying outside the exact way he looked at Ultraman. In the dream I wasn't sure if he wanted me to come out and fight or just come outside. I realized he could have broken my window, busted in and kicked my ass if he wanted too... then I woke up!

That dream was worth the DVDs price!

Best series ever! Ok, I have to say that as when I was a kid I lived for this show. Creepiest episode, the Jamila one, when he starts crying it gets really wierd. My favorite episdoe has to be the 2 part Gomora one. Mefilas is the shit too!!

mefilas was a cool episode . the one where ultraman tortures dadongo to death was memerable . the kaiju graveyard in space was interesting .wish i could remember the episode where he pulls the spoon out of his pocket instead of the thing that turns him into ultraman.

skydon. great episode.They are eating curry when thee alarm goes off.

Funny story about that one.

when the episode aired, alot of spoons went missing, because all the kids were using them for playing Ultraman.
I own a large curry spoon autographed by Susumu Kurobe the actor who played Hiyata.

my favorite episode is the one with Dada. I saw it as a kid, and it gave me sleeping trouble for weeks.

The 2 part one with Gomora is killer too!

I've been getting these from Netflix, and they are pretty sweet. I wish they would have broadcast these in my area when I was a kid (yeah, right . . .) because I would have been all over it.
