Sigh. Just got back to the states after dealing with a family funeral to read tonight one of my favorite authors died. Shitty night.

He was old, I mean it's not like he was young and died in a "tragic" drug overdose or something stupid. I guess the way he went it sucks, falling down, and it's sad when anyone dies really, but it was his time.

I was lucky enough to meet him here at work (The Daily Show). Of all the people we have had on the show, he was the one I was most excited about.

His cameo in the movie 'Back To School' was hilarious
[I thought I'd lighten up the mood of this thread]

Admittedly, I've never been a huge fan of his work, but his contributions to literature are so significant that this news even makes me sad. He has lived a very interesting, full life.
