So last week I saw a promo on Adult Swim for the season 2 set coming out on the 17th and I was stoked. But then I stopped into Best Buy last Wednesday to grab a cd and I saw the season 2 sets for sale on the shelves - score! I don't know why they had them available early but I sure as hell wasn't going to ask. I bought one and went home and spent the night in front of the tube. Best night in I've spent in a while.

Go Team Venture!

companies like best buy (huge retailers of CDs and DVDs) actually get their shipments quite early, and often put them out before they are legally supposed to. they are big enough to pay the fees if they get caught and they get early business from people who know that best buy is willing to risk it.

not that i'm complaining, i've benefitted from their policies (or lack thereof) as well

i should say that it may be a mistake on management's part, but i know they've been fined for such actions before. lol!

So do little stores, to try and beat the big guys. I worked a joint across from BB for a long time, sometimes we'd go to BB and say "Target has it out" then THEY would put it out than we would, but BB is the one who'd get in trouble for breaking street date because before we went and told them that, we'd call the company about it complaining :D

i've worked for several smaller places that wouldn't break the strict on sale date (thats where i learned about it) but would be happy to give my money to the small guy who did - i just don't know of any around here

Yeah, that was in Norridge, IL. Honestly that small place, for DVD's, charged way more than BB (because BB and bigger joints get better deals due to ads) so I still went to BB for DVD's. On occasion they'd go to Best Buy and Walmart to buy stock because their shelf price was cheaper than what distributors wanted to offer us for cost. Also, this particular small places owner, would be fine off without any store, super weird old rich guy, and mean...but funny.

I'm a late comer to the Venture Brothers and I must give general thanks to fellow board members for turning me on. Haven't seen a single episode of season 2 so I'm looking forward to it. Great packaging art on this new set! Looks like Jackson Publick did all of it. I thought the Bill Sienkiewicz art on the last set would be hard to top but I think the new one nailed the retro style.
