Finally something good "by" KAWS. Of course, it's a reinterpretation by another artists of an old piece. But it sure beats the hell out of anything KAWS himself has done in the past couple years. And MDV rules!

Way to go, KAWS...

Now this piece rules and would make one amazing fucking vinyl. Ever since the Kaws Vs. Pushead vinyl all his other shit sucks(except for that case he did for Arkitip!).

Mark Dean Veca. Some of his paintings are amazing!

Mark Dean Veca rules. My computer sits just below a print I bought from him directly. Really nice guy. He does lots of large mural pieces. I think this would be cool translated to a piece of vinyl but I would imagine you would need a rediculously skilled sculptor to replicate that properly. He often uses that intestinal style in his work.

Unfortunately the images of other drawings at his website are too small for you to really see the detail, but at least you can get an appreciation of his talent, if you aren't already familiar.

I still think that the Chums are about the best thing KAWS ever did.

this is great, and mentioned would make an awesome vinyl piece.

i asked in another thread but didn't get a reply, does anyone remember how much the dissected companion retailed for when it dropped? i've never seen one for sale for less than $900 US.

I think $180 + $14 shipping.

When I saw this drawing on the blog, all the intricate bumps & guts sort of reminded me of the new RxH sculpt (the green gid figure w/ half of his skull exposed). I thought it would be cool to make a mono color vinyl KAWS piece similiar to that.

(But I bet Medicom is the sole manf for KAWS stuff)

This dude (he is red in this image [from Datadub's flicker]:

I think this would be the only thing that would look alright cast in flesh vinyl - though I'd prefer the hot pink of the original blow-mold Chum.

...dissecteds with mdv style instead of guts be so cool!!!

same thoughts here...Chum are sleek and that's what made them so nice...

The drawing is cool but I would not like to see it turn into a vinyl...

Hadn't seen that decomposed dissected. I think I prefer the Chum though - it looks more like MDV's work than the Companion does. But I understand what you're saying about the original Chum being better and I have to agree. But I still like this!
I highly doubt that this would get made into a figure. But on the off-chance it did I think I'd have to buy one - it's been a while since I've said that about anything KAWS has been involved with.

that would take come serious sculpting talent to conquer...

a Florian Bertmer version might be cool. gets compared to pus all the time, but he's come to build his own style
