Any Biskup fans see the giant deathbot at SDCC? I was wondering about the quality. Is it nice or just a big chunk of wood?

I believe at least one board member, had the funds, and took the plunge.
Waiting to hear a report from somewhere in PA if I remember correctly...

From the pictures i've seen it looks really nice. Should have tried to get the mini 5" version.

Actually looked really nice when I saw it at SDCC. Was thinking about getting it but space was the only issue. I think it is a pretty good deal.

I actually ordered one - it looked really nice from where I was standing. Gama-Go says they're hand-carved, which is pretty impressive. I really thought they were going to go much more quickly. God knows where I'm going to put it, but I'll post pics once it shows up (supposedly in a few weeks).

Interesting. I might have to get in contact with them, as I haven't heard anything. Thanks for the heads-up.

Got mine in on Monday, the right arm was detached in shipping...

got mine today, foot was cracked :(

the figure itself is really nice. there is no packaging / box besides the factory cardboard box.

not even signed.

still have faith.

Wow, that sucks - mine arrived today, and was miraculously unscathed, considering the fact that it was in a cardboard box with a huge hole ripped in it and absolutely NO padding, packaging materials, etc. whatsoever. I mean, it's a beautiful piece, but for $350 those guys could have put out $4 or so for some newspaper and bubble wrap. I would be turning the internet blue if mine would have been damaged. Best of luck to anyone else who ordered.

Totally agree. For a release with this kind of 'stature' attached to it--or at least supposedly attached to it--you'd think there'd be a bit more TLC attached. Haven't we learned that half of the 'premium' experience means bigger, better, and bolder packaging? Really bizarre that these things were neglected so badly. Especially since it seemed so fragile to begin with.

@lurker/joemm: Do you plan on contacting Gama to see about a return/exchange? I'd be interested to hear their response at the lack of care taken to usher their goldenboy into the world...

i called them on friday, and they told me i was the second person to call that day with an issue.
i already mailed it back, it cost $43 for postage :( gama go said they would reimburse the postage. unfornately they won't send out a new one til they get the other one next week, so i won't being getting my replacement for 2 weeks.

so with two broken the edition size is now down to 48 :)

I bet edition size will be way less than that with the shipping "issues". Kind of like the fauna set.

Who did you expect to sign it? This isn't a Tim Biskup release....so I guess the only relevant people who can sign it are the gama-go folks?

Post subject:  Re: SDCC Giant Deathbot

did tim biskup not create the deathbot character?

it was just on observation, as it is sort of a ltd. edition premium figure, i was expecting something more along the lines of ghonner packaging from what i read about the initial offering.

tis true. I believe it's been awhile since Biskup was actually involved with gama-go.

I think deathbot's still a biskup design but I think the fig said they were individually numbered but not signed.
It's inexcusable though for them to ship it so poorly.

I think Deathbot is more or less Joe Ledbetter's, these days at least.

I thought it was Frank Kozik's this month... Huck Gee gets it next month...

Damn, I just saw this post, but it looks like they're gone now ... The link is still on the GG front page, but it doesn't look like there are any left.

Post subject:  Re: SDCC Giant Deathbot

talked to gama go today to see when i would be getting my new dBot.

they are working on some quality control issues. mainly how to ship them better!
sounded like they had more than a few shipping issues

they should be shipping out again next week if anyone is waiting.

cool

deathbot rearribe yesterday unharmed.

it came in the orignal box inside of another box. lots of bubble wrap, and filled with packing peanuts. good decision.

unfornately, i was playing with the original mini dbot at work yesterday and his arm snapped right off. urg.
