I really don't get this. Are you supposed to wear these like regular shoes? If so, I would imagine you'd look like a total fool walking down the street in them. Unless you were 4 years old, or had full clown makeup on, of course. |

This sort of thing has been around forever & a day at REI, LL Bean, etc. Maybe these are big in Japan b/c people take their shoes off when inside? But I bet these cost 4X or more what a 'plain' pair would be. And what good is conspicuous consumption in the pivacy of your own home? I like KAWS figures for the most part, but this is just selling a label. |

It makes much more sense with that in mind - they definitely look comfortable. But I agree that the name brand carries very little weight in the context of comfort. Strange, though, how Kaws' clothing pieces (and the implications thereof) are much more fascinating to me than either his toys or his artwork. |

Maybe I'll buy a pair from LLBean and Sharpie some X's across the front. |

I'm surprised he didn't go for Kaws-uggs. Now that is something I'm sure a lot of people would eat up. |

this is awesome. so much crappier than the marc jacobs shoes. In twenty years, we'll be laughing at how many inane products Kaws managed to put out. I know some of you think the commodification of self lost significant relevance post-Warhol, but I still think there is some validity in being supported by the wealthy while also deceiving them through taste manipulation. How many idiots will buy these just because they are Kaws fans? the utility of such items is low, whether they are for wearing or as part of your Kaws collection (not much to look at). branding them as made by a "fine" artist only evokes humor from me. of course I wouldn't buy them unless they had some sort of skull pattern on them....... |
