Ha ha ha! Dunno why, but I thought of Poochie...
I can't believe Chueh is taken seriously by a gallery - granted, maybe it's just G1988 (does anyone else exhibit his crap?) and that's what I've come to expect from them.

Ha, it's so dumb and random I actually think it's kind of cool.

I am a sucker for rabbits, and while I am definitely not impressed my most of his work, this would be the most likely thing of his I would ever buy. Since it is masked it doesn't have that immediate, "Oh great another Luke Chueh rabbit doing something unexpected" feeling I usually get when I see his stuff, and I think the paint app and costume design is pretty good. It looks like a Secret Wars action figure kinda sorta. It would however be better if they had a different head sculpt for each color and it wasn't marketed as a Power Ranger.

if i had to choose between a diet of human shit for a year or one of luke chueh's toys in my collection, i'd probably have to pick this one. but i'd hide it in there as best i could....

I am not a fan of his toys. And this doesn't even look clean. It looks sloppy. I guess the legs are trying to have that old ultraman, wide-hip stance you see on some vintage ultras. But that's the only detail that makes sense to me.
My gf has this print above our bed:

i am quite fond of it. not much else of his appeals to me, but i love this print.

I feel gutpunched. I don't know what kind of a warning that needed but it needed one. Kind of like NSFW, maybe "warning this toy may offend your eyes". That vinyl deserved better and Luke Chueh should be ashamed of himself.

Reminds me of shopping at the San Jose flea market all drunk from those insidiously cute little beer carts.
That's about the time I spot something for a nickle on a piss covered hobo blanket and slur to my brother "Let's buy this an set it on fire!" He never goes for it.

that reminds me of when I was a kid, the park down the street had a creek running through it and we used to find dead frogs all the time. I would cut open their belly and stick in a firecracker in then light it and run for cover.

I am a moderate fan of his artwork, and like the Possessed figures, but his intheyellow stuff is just plain unappealing. I had ever-so-slight desire for the tie-die colorway of the Mecha thing, but the sculpt just kills it.

Plus, isn't there another Chueh sculpt in the works featuring a cloth suit ala Huck Gee dress-up dolls?

As much as I like LC and his art, this is definitely not one of those.

no me gusta.

i wouldnt go so far as saying im offended by it, though. in fact it almost laps itself by being so weak its nearly charming, but doesnt quite make it all the way around, and just stays at weak.

the character is not nearly iconic enough for this type of thing to work in my opinion, plus the excecution seems kind of phoned in.

Interesting that you say this as I felt it could have been charming. Perhaps some more thought and work before they pulled the trigger on the sculpt? I'm not hating on Luke, but there have been better efforts. You're kinda' screwed from the get go as it's nearly impossible to capture the loose skcetchy quality of his illustrations and paintings in vinyl.

Post subject:  Re: Luke Chueh's Power Ranger Rabbotto

it would have been better if it was his mecha bears in the sentai colorways instead of a bunny in a sentai outfit. if he really wanted a bunny in a sentai outfit, he should have distorted the proportions to an extreme cause really...all this is is a guy in a bunny outfit, in a sentai outfit. what was it that kirkland said?

"take that weak ass shit back to kr!"

or something to that extent.

I've got one of the OG Possessed figures, and I really like it. Great construction, paintjob etc. This looks like something from the bargain aisle at Kmart.
