the most original (yet derivative) toy kaws has made since the pushead collab. thanks soriyama! it seems the only kaws pieces I like are collaborations with other artists. although I wouldn't mind a Chum for my birthday, which is Guy Fawkes day (just so you know). |

This is probably the only kaws figure I have ever liked. It has a short circuit vibe and the vents on the back are cool. Shitty price tag though, is it die-cast? |

I think if it looked more like the painting it would be a winner. The torso is too long up top and too short on the lower half. Also, the arms are just metal rods connected to elbow joints - if the elbow joint was integrated into the upper arm, and the shoulder joint integrated into the torso, like in the painting, this would be pretty killer. Also, shoulda done two-tone metal coloring. I really like the idea (love robots, Sorayama's work is, uh, interesting...), the fabrication looks excellent, and if gifted one I would be quite happy. But for $1K...I'd have to sell a lot of stuff I like. (Maybe this does come with a dog and skateboard though - not that that would make it worth $1K, but it'd be a bit easier to justify.) I had to make sure I knew who the Sorayama was in this collaboration - I don't think I've seen anything by him that hasn't been sexually suggestive! |
