no matter how you feel about wentz or "fashion", clandestine is working with some great artists - le merde, simon oxley - hopefully giving them some good exposure and a bit of cash

The other half of Clandestine is Jensen Karp of Gallery1988. G1988 has been really supportive of all the Grass Hut gang. See the below NY Times (!) article, but maybe don't if you can't stand the word "bromance."

Pete Wentz- Dressing grown men like 14 year olds since 2008.
Not a dis against Le Merde or his graphics, can't blame him. I'd take the job and make a few bucks too.

I support people taking their MTV money and using it to support guys like Mike. I'm not so sure a company like Clandenstine needs to be doing fashion shows but I know the exposure has to be good for the artist in some way. Now I just want to get a pic of Mike rocking that Tank Top! Come on Mike show us your stuff.

For what its worth projects like these help keep the prices of the artwork down which is good for most of us. So I say keep making stuff with your friends and pay no attention to the people who never seem to make anything except negative space.

the money might be an incentive, but if i had no idea what Le Merde was, that photo would not help me buy that shirt. sorry, but it looks like some coture-style ed hardy douche-chill

If you're not getting hated on you're not doing it right. At the end of the day if someone doesn't like your work, do you really care? No, you just say fuck em and keep going. With that said, he lives a wonderful life and he's earned that. I just don't enjoy that type of clothing. It's not solely his brand, there are dozens of similar brands I don't like.
Like I said, I like the LeMerde graphic, I just wish it was on a t-shirt that covered up my pecs.

t-shirts are not meant for the runway.

Instead a sterile environment to display the clothes, they would sell better if they took a pic of the guy walking down an back alley.

The posted picture is a real turnoff. I don't like Fall Out Boy, but they fall into a category of popular music that has developed inside my head as I've aged. This is a unique category wherein I dislike the musicians but am glad they are being played on the radio over so much bad and overproduced pop music. Although I may not nod my head in accord, at least they are a rock band with real drums. I feel similarly about the Killers-- I pretty much despise their singles but recognize that they at least have musicianship.

Popular music, now that I've got a car with a radio, I tend to hear more of it. Unfortunately.

Fall out boy IS overproduced pop music.

Glenn, I think your theory of these reducing the price of art is utter bull.
I am in no way hating on le merde (though I wouldn't wear that shirt no matter who produced it), just the association to the brand/"label" etc. And that picture has the biggest "poser" look to it I've ever seen, including wasn't even cool when pete wentz started doing it eyeliner and catching sight of the backing bands too cool for school matching red shoes.

Andy, have you thought of doing promo for tshirt companies? ;)

sell out/buy in/etc/etc

Post subject:  Re: Le Merde for Clandenstine Industries.

David, I spend a lot of time with artist trying to price their work. When they have other project helping pay the rent it is a lot easier to get flexible. All the artist I work with are trying to readjust to the new economic conditions and they are all afraid to raise prices. Think it is bull if you want but I know in this case it is true.

of course it is and it is bad. but there is a huge spectrum of awfulness that bombards us while out in the real world and away from our vinyl collections. so if i have to hear a bad overproduced pop song, i'd rather hear one that has at least one decent rock riff and some angsty vocals. being forced to listen to teen pop makes me want to murder things. justin bieber's "hit" song goes "there's gonna be one less lonely girl" kids fucking twelve and he's telling some girl he's gonna take away all her problems forever. that kid should choke on his tongue, if that doesn't work he should try his fist.

why do i know the lyrics? did some editing for the music label's commercials for chain store sales. unfortunately

I still don't get what Wintz and Fallout Boy have to do with the T-shirt? Are they the band in the background of the pic?

'Slim-fit' and 'muscle-fit' don't work well with my new 'fuller-figure' . . . plus my frontal lobes are still intact and I know to leave my wife's eyeliner in her purse! I'll just stick with pushing words and pictures around . . . :D

Post subject:  Re: Le Merde for Clandenstine Industries.

My points was more massive exposure + ties to current pop darlings + children with mommy and daddys disposable income = more demand = higher prices for pieces (both new and old)

Whater, we both have our closet full of collections.

Andy: I meant behind the camera, but I know we could just get you some eyeliner at Boots and show off your ink in some "punk rock" fashion shows.
