Post subject:  Hello Brute/Jon Knox

Jon Knox has been making Resin Toys, and painting for a long time now. He's just released a new vinyl toy, that premiered at NYCC, What do people here think of his new toy?

His first vinyl release was a lavender Jeffery, from, and through, Lulubell toys, and His new release is with a different company, but looks strikingly similar to anything he's done in resin. Did anyone here see it at NYCC, and what's your opinion. Was the company change a bad thing? I know his work isn't typically the type of thing that's shown here, so I didn't post photo's, but I figured since his first vinyl was made in the same factory as MVH, Monstrehero, Grody, etc. There might be a little leniency.

I mainly interested in it, because I'm looking at buying one for my wife. I have a tradition of giving her resin's that I've painted as gifts. Last year I bought her the Jeffery, and painted it, and this year I got her a different resin, but would like to get another toy from Knox.

What's your opinion of the new figure Cody?

although I don't have one in hand and can only comment based off pics from the net, it looks like one of his resins, appears to be the perfect transition from resin to vinyl. The little magnetic accessories are cool too, they remind me of some of the old palisades muppets figures, I love magnetized parts. Maybe a little more expensive than I was hoping for but I'll probably still pick up one of the four.

I got the lavender unpainted from Lulu at Nycc. I like em. Really fun, crude, and simplistic sculpts. Trying to get my hands on another because these seem like a ton of fun to paint.

Also someone was recently selling a white unpainted in the bst. Anyone know where that one was released?

Yeah I just bought one from Jon, he's sending it out, so I can have it in time for Christmas. It would be cool to get things in hand, before actually buying it, but it looks just like a resin, and my wife will love it.

I would have gotten the green personally, but she really liked the blue one, when I showed them to her last month.

It's 8" tall BTW.

The white was a resin from his site, it was super cheap and fun to paint, although the seem lines had to be shaved down a little.

This is the paintjob, I did for Valentines day.

Jon did the sculpt himself Bonus Toyz wanted him to keep the sculpt raw like his resins. I have the BLack Friday version its a really beautiful piece. The quality on this guy is just amazing.

Mine just arrived today, it's really cool, I'll post photo's for size comparison in a minute, I just have to wait till my wife falls asleep, also I haven't taken it out of the plastic bag yet, since it's technically not mine, I really want my wife to get the full effect from opening it all herself.

I love John's work! He's also one of the nicest people in the known universe, and somehow his personallity matches his art and toys excatly :)

I own a couple of his resin pieces, and I'm sure I'll paint a couple of his Jeffry vinyls at some point. I'm hoping Luke brings some to Superfestival next month. Personally I'd be psyched to see some green or baby blue vinyl!

Just in case anyone is interested in sizing, the only thing I'm a little bummed about was the pricing, that said, the accessories most likely pushed the production pricing up a little. They were worth it, and make this toy unique.

Also have to remember bonus toyz is a a company independently ran by artist Ajee and her husband. To get such a high quality piece made must have cost them a fortune. That being said many JP 8" figures are around $90 also.

Steven, is Cody 90 bucks? I thought that was only for a short amount of time. I wanted to buy one and it was like 70 euros or something.

He's $95, the quality of this figure is nuts so many paint apps. For an 8in figure it's a pretty average price i would say. The solid black is $105 cause it was a limited edition run for black friday
