Hey Guys,

...new guy on my rader recently who goes by the name 'Atomic Vomit'. Dude makes masks primarily, but has a fig or 2 in the works.

Any fellow 'brainers got any? Or thoughts?

Below is the 1 piece i have so far, being 'worn' by one of my Shikaruna figs:

AND a sculpt by Atomic Vomit for an upcoming 'Mishka'/L'Amour sofubi:

* i am blown away by the head(s) on this guy, think the body could do with some beefing up though. Monkey man looks a bit too starved for me...

...doing my best to get some discussion going on basically...

That lamour two headed looks so forced. He does great work, though.

I'm assuming he also made the masks skinner and lamour have been parading around?

...man, sadly i am with you on the 2-head. The head(s) look amazing... that body though...

And yeah, he makes full sized masks as well as minis, and they have been made for/in collaboration with Mishka, L'Amour, Skinner n Alex Pardee so far.

It's really a shame. The rest of the sculpt is done very nice but the torso just throws the whole sculpt off. Single headed apes tend to have very large torso's and I feel that for this sculpt it could have easily been twice the size. It's still going to be a very nice "figerr" I just feel it could have been better.

...BUT for a 1st kaiju/sofubi sculpt, it is good/solid - it is Pat's 1st yeah?. I am sure Pat will improve damn quickly when it comes to sculpting bodies. I mean the guy brings such detail and skill to his masks/heads, and that skill can easily translate to sculpting the rest of the body with time and practise...

Pat is truly, deeply talented... his mask work is just great- I fully expect to find myself buying (at least) one of his creations, at some point. This full body sculpt is not good. You're right, with time, doing this sort of anatomy will likely come more easily/naturally for him... but the thing with this is: it's not really a matter of developing skills- the sculpting skills needed to flesh out the profile and make this figure look better/"make sense" are already there. I feel like it's just a case of not really taking enough time to consider and work back into the sculpt, thinking the shape through more. I feel if Pat spent some time reworking this, it could really be a homerun. Beefy and fucking WIDE on this guy, man!

...found another image of the upcoming L'Amour x Atomic Vomit x Miskta kaiju - bit large, sorry!:

...this seems to be the scuplt, prior to the wax photo above. SEEMS a bit thicker and nicer... Maybe just a bad photo of the wax? Or some of the bulk wass lost in transition...

Thoughts?

Those masks are amazing, I have got to get one.

I'm not quite sure what happened to the torso but it the sculpt in the second pic looks much better.

The top one is not a wax. They look to be the same, just diff angles.

Iuno, I feel that if it had been a bit thicker it would be a great sculp. The heads look great but it's just oddly thin.

...i assumed the top photo was a badly-lit wax prototype photo caus of the joins n parts being shown - my bad!

...Least they may be working on it more if it's not in the wax stage yet. Really hope this guy is more than just some great head(s) on a weird body.

...thanks! Sad but the wax in the photo above does seem to be anemic!! Hope it's just a bad angle.

There's too much space between the chest & neck, which makes it look odd, but if that was corrected he would become more proportional, with the illusion of being wider.

They need a breast lift.

...well the final piece is done, and ready for SDCC - according to Greg's Instagram at least...:

Finished piece looks better than i thought weight wise, but way way more cartoony than i was expecting... Good on 'em for adding what seem like joints at the wrists and ankles.

Nothing against Pat but why is this on his thread? I mean he was hired to sculpt the toy with direction from me and Greg. This belongs in the Mishka thread
