I am neither an American or an Idol and i am certainly not Japanese. So this will go here if that's all right with everyone. Last summer Luke was nice enough to offer to transform this goofy lump of modelled pseudo-clay (below, on a Nag body 'cause I'm a bit obsessed like that) into a new vinyl head for the Ensorcelled Man. In retrospect I sometimes wonder how cool this raw head would have looked if it had gone straight to vinyl. Not feeling as adventurous as I might have should, i decided to apply myself to making a fancier version with some kind of low-end back-of-the-bus Sculpey ( III, Super, i can't recall...the shitty one anyhow). One day, about a year later, i got an Email from Japan... early wax ! And a few weeks later ... finished wax ! Another few weeks and surprise ... a first batch comes out at SDCC in either purplish (The Purps) or brown/beige colors. (photo by Dagoberto) (photo Luke Rook) Then came the Shi-Shi : (i will add a good pic later) A few weeks after SDCC i received a box from Arizona which notably contained an unpainted brown head on clear root beer body Moloch: Next came the Gara-Moloch Monster, an irresistible homage, just couldn't help it ! (painted by Luke) (photo Rook Media intrntnl) (RookStar photo) ( I believe a few blank blues from that bunch were offered for sale online) There was also this awesome mash-up that popped up, painted by Luke (?): (Lucky Luke Flix) Which in turn inspired this second version of the Moloch Monster... (to be continued) |

Fantastic Ben. It is about time you started a dedicated thread to this [not so] little fella. The development was remarakable, especially how relatively quick it was for a two man operation, and under the radar of most folks. I really love the way he came out, but I also definitely love the roughness and 'ancient' look of your original Mol. I hadn't actually seen that Gary tribute either - very cool. I can't wait to see what else this guy pops his old head on next. |

I love this head sculpt, any plans for a body in the future? |

Wait, shouldn't we have an "Art Toy" thread on the forum, where things like this belong - you know, that take six hours to paint an eyelash on? I mean, that is the only kind of Japanese vinyl sofubi collectable that I care about. I don't want the important stuff to be bogged down and lost in the mess of all this other crap I have to look at on SB. Also, no offense to you and Luke, but unless you are going to charge into the four figures for this guy AND have a lottery drawing from an secret exclusive list of private member's entrants, what's the point, really? Kinda wasting my time to be honest. It is like you are doing it for love and creativity or something. Pfft. |

Thanks S. I wasn't sure how to proceed but i thought it would be pertinent to document the history of versions and such... This whole project was quite unexpected and (often still) unplanned (!) and has consequently been nothing but pleasant and, most importantly, uncomplicated so far. Random encounter all the way ! Hopefully this dude will be popping his head on a body (or bodies !) he can call his own sometime in the not so distant future. I'm getting on that horse the minute I'm done with this ole "workin' the land " nonsense (global warming has once again tacked on three more workable weeks to the end of the season. ) As for the original Mol, he melted in the rain but his mug is honored on the reverse of the first header. |

Not to derail the thread further, but hasn't this growing season been nuts? Bad enough we've moved in to having only two seasons, such a mild winter these past few years and longer and longer summers - it is getting pretty bizarre. Good for crops of course, but nonetheless not something I appreciate. |

Steve, I thought you were too sharp to not see right through this quaint "two-man operation" "pleasant" "under-the-radar" bullshit for the hype-to-flip scam it really is |

Climate change, regardless of its purported origins, is definitely happening. It will be advantageous to certain people in certain places, it's change for better and for worse. Strange days though ... Also, warming is not necessarily good for all crops. |

part 2... An early paint, possibly a progress shot, of the second Moloch Monster. I think it ended either with an orange spray on the nose ( the Lulubell version ) or with pink or red lips ( the Super Festival version). The head seems to be made of a dark blue vinyl. Originally this version was intended for a few brown heads and clear green monster bodies: Here's my very basic suggestion for the paint (which is basically Luke's anyways ): |

A little slow on the uptake due to family travels... From Superfest 64 a few weeks a go via @lulubell_lulupons Instagram: I've been immensely pleased to see what Luke has been coming up with, hopefully i'll find time to give him a hand in the near future. |

^I had a hard time understanding how that head would fit on the ensorcelled man, i remember Luke telling me not to worry myself over scale and fit. It's a testament to his vision and comprehension of the medium that the head looks so cool on so many different bodies. Yes Dago, so would Iā¦that is a nice bright pink ! |
