the box is perfect, I mean it's exactly the way mine was presented and I got it new.
The bear seems legit too ...
the only color that seems weird are on the pelvis... more clearer but I saws some bear that has this differencies too on other part of their body.

I couldn't stump up the $$$ at the time but struck up a trade deal and never regretted it.

I've seen some that have a 50/50 light-dark torso where 2 sections of timber have been bonded for the main body as well as pieces with knots and blemishes so I guess it wouldn't be outta the question to have 2 sections taken from 2 different pieces of timber (hence the colour variation).

Killer piece!

Rhino-I'm a Cabinetmaker by trade and have been working w/wood since i was a child(insert jokes here)-Wood will differ in color and grain for 2 reasons-1 different pieces came from different trees 2 pieces come from different parts of the tree..Meaning unless the whole fig came from the exact same part of the tree it will never look the same and knowing productions techniques i can almost guarantee the figure didnt come from the same part of the tree..Thats something in veneer terms we call"bookmatching" to match the grain and is extremely expensive to do and not smart for production costs so make a long story short i wouldnt worry-Most likely 100% OG..

thanks for the responses... oh well, someone came over the top on my bid already. Maybe it is totally legit, but it looks sorta funky and it will bother me. I regret doing a sell/trade off on mine, but at the time I felt i had waaay too much money put into one figure.

Looks legit. I have seen many of the Wood Bearbricks and there are some weird ones. Mixi-Bang has quite a few and they have one in particular with a dark 1 inch wide stripe right down the middle of the head. Looks like a racing stripe. I believe David, the owner, is keeping that one for himself.

it would be funny if someone opened up their box and the toy was devoured by termites.

I am fairly sure these where batched out in pieces and not handcarved, with some attempt made to assemble a sort of matching bear so different colors of the wood seem natural.

for all the hoo-haw about quality..mine has a sort of off-kilter signature, but the parts match color pretty good.

I concur!!! At one point I think they had 10 and in the beginning they were selling them for $1,000.

I'd be happy w/the one in the pic-A lot of them seem to have very dark graining in the chest piece and this one does not..They do look like they were CNC machined..
