well... let me narrow it down... what is the last non-biskup, JLed, Kaws, kaiju for grow ups toy you bought? The only western vinyl I've bought this year was an Obey [expletive deleted] (sorry!).. but other than that, there's nothing that has sparked my interest. Am I missing out on anything? Not hatin' on western vinyl, i just want to know if there's anything good lately as I haven't paid much attention. |

Biskup, Kaws, and JLed don't count as western vinyl? Or was I reading that wrong? I got a Mr. Bumper. It's awesome. |

my assumption is that those were excluded due to their ubiquitous popularity whereas most other, smaller western companies dont enjoy the same acceptance amonst eastern collectors. for me, probably my 5" labbit (white) whenever those came out. |

I honestly believe it was 'Return of the Jedi' toys bought for me when I was 10. Or maybe the blue rubber suited action-man from the same era. I just didnt catch the bug till I came to Japan |

Yeah Star Wars, DC and Marvel toys. As far as western vinyl, I kinda never got into it, I have 1 or 2 things, I don't even know what anymore though. |

The only western vinyl that's really interested me in the past few years is the Kaws dissected - and that one is so amazingly over the top cool it holds its own with even the best japanese vinyl. |

ooo. a grey tigerbaby... i needs me one of those. I was just asking the question to see if there's anything (for lack of a better term) "hot" right now besides what was hot since early last year, as I didn't see anything remotely interesting at SDCC last year and my western collection hasn't changed at all since then. I'm pretty disappointed at the tara mcpherson toy... I thought for sure something interesting would come out of her illustrations, but that toy just doesn't look like her pictures. oh well.. more money can be put aside for SB then i guess |

Some of the new mini Nathan Jurevicius figures. They look good at the feet of my tree dweller (one of my favorites still to this day). |

selekta_nips wrote: arnt the MCA Orange & Green Prison Ape's. made by toy3r Yes, but MCA is an American. I certainly wouldn't consider them Eastern vinyl just because they are made by Toy2R. They come from the East, but are a Western concept. I don't know what does everyone consider Gamagon's, Pollards, & stuff like that? Since it's Tim's work I see it as Western, but they are made by Eastern Toy companies. Now that I think about it almost all vinyl toy's are made in China or Japan, so really isn't the artist what determines whether it is Western or Eastern. |

I'd say "Eastern" and "Western" are somewhat vague. And since everything is made in China or Japan, it might be more descriptive to go with the nationalities of the artists. American, British, Chinese, Japanese, etc. |
