What Stephen says. The bonus is you get to know your post office clerk very well and they are nice and cut corners for you when you're slightly overweight etc. :)

EDIT-- ...ah no edit, joke away!

at any of the post offices around here, it's more likely that the clerk is the one overweight!

Ultra999 wrote:^ while paypal seems to allow a customs form number to be input in lieu of a tracking number, i have never seen a package's status updated once it is outside of the country. for me, it always ends at the border.

only the post office can see if it was delivered. But I won a PP claim with the customs number.

USPS Priority Mail International customs number for tracking does work. You need to use the USPS site for US tracking and overseas sites for tracking in the destination country.

Japan

UK

unfortunately, that type of tracking stops once it leaves the US. According to the person I spoke with at Paypal and my local post office, Express is still the only option that offers real tracking the kind paypal is looking for if something gets lost.

Yeah I know, but i am happy I dont have to wait in lines anymore.

Also I was told by USPS tracking to some countries is not guaranteed even with EMS as some places dont scan

I have several trade chums abroad. I am of the opinion that I have to actually KNOW someone before dealing with international shipping, customs, etc.

If I'm unable to fully track a fully insured package, I'll likely avoid that bit of business.

/EDIT/ "The bonus is you get to know your post office clerk very well and they are nice and cut corners for you when you're slightly overweight etc."

This is absolutely true. Its at the point for me that when I go into my regular post office, I'm greeted like Don Vito Corleone in the fruit market scene. ;)

I live in Sweden so I often end up paying crazy amounts for shipping. At times I'll ask the seller to downgrade the shipping, sometimes even to go for the cheapest option available. Obviously with the understanding that it's on me should anything go awry. I've never had a problem. Ever. Anecdotal evidence and all that, but anyways this is my experience.
