 Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
5 second rule? So today I was standing in line to order lunch, and a wee kiddie dropped her cookie on the floor (in a food cafe at the mall). She stared up in horror at Mommie, and Mom said, "5 second rule!". At first I thought, "yuck!" , but then a few seconds later, I thought it was pretty cool all things considering--sometimes I think we're really paranoid about dirt and germs, and all this anti-bacterial this and anti-bacterial that, just ruins a kid's ability to develop an immune system when you're young. Hmm..well ok, not so bad after all, it's not like it was dropped on a dusty dirty sidewalk, and it would have been a waste of cookie to throw it away! ...so do you adhere to the 5 second rule? ...how's that for a huge run-on sentence and pointless topic? Hey, it's only 1:19 am, and I haven't had my ice cream yet (and I'm smarting from missing a Buta toy on the Buy/Sell section )

I will never forget the time in high school where my friend dropped his burrito in the bushes. I saw a news report about a study done by students at UC berkeley where they dropped food on a dry floor , outside, in a cafeteria etc. and they found that bacteria didnt start forming on the food until about 60 seconds! I give it the 45 second rule, unless the food or the ground is wet or moist.

 Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
I guess it depends on the situation. I saw a guy drop his mcdonald's burger at 16th & mission, picked it up and started chomping.

 Re: Does BASK NOT sleep?
Poor Julia (rest her soul). I heard an old interview on NPR recently, where she mentioned that she was accused of dropping lots of stuff on the kitchen floor while prepping din (steak, fish, etc...). She did say she dropped a chicken once while on camera, picked it up and wiped it off and stuck it back in the pot, commenting, "your guests will never know, now will they"

Emeril eat your heart out! i think the burrito taster ad was part of an anti-marijuana campaign earlier this year or last. there was also a 'couch surfer' and a third one if i remember correct.
