^^ Thanks! I found it hard to find at a fair price. I could of scored it earlier but i wasn't willing to be ripped-off by a flipper.
What's the story with these guys again? The pink is smaller - and if I can remember correctly it was re-molded from the yellow vinyl? The yellow vinyl is so squishy, at first I was thinking it would be horrible to use - i'm guessing they would have just filled the parts with some plaster or something to give them strength.
^^ I have the yellow one and its one of the worst constructed BM figures i own. The joints are quite loose and wonky. Its a real pain to get it stand-up properly . . . . On a more positive note, i've been playing catch-up recently with the mini sofubi series. Here's my latest finds (and ones i already had).
Dang. Moog's marvelous mini menagerie of 'models. Wonderful man. Honestly, they are ALL just fantastic. From Toho to the Tsubu guys, to the crazy yokai. I love that you've managed to get the variants of all of the latter. Really great stuff man, I am thrilled to see them. Well worthy of a sturdy congratulations, good sir.
Funny you say that - as soft and squishy the yellow one is, and with the loose very joints, it stands quite nicely for me. The pink version on the other hand can't stand up with it's feet flush against a surface and one arm is blocked from moving because it's wedged behind one of the ridges on the Hedo body. Considering their faults - these are still some of my all-time favourite Hedorah toys
Try a little hairdryer correction Glenn. It can work wonders. Or, should you not happen to have one handy, a quick dip in a sink of hot water will do the trick too. The key is to hold it in place for a while during cooldown, to let the plastic 'set' in the desired position. It is best to overcompensate a bit, i.e. stretching it out more than the position you would like it, as you will always have some bounce back.
Oh indeed, its an awesome sculpt . . . its just a pity the one i have wont stand up very well No problem mate, i always enjoy your photos too! If only that was the case my friend, i have the two main releases of that set - but i've noticed online there are subtle paint variants to all these sets. There are also these two really rare sets that i assume were probably limited edition festival releases . . .
I think I have only ever seen that clear set once before, I definitely agree it must be a festival or event rarity. But boy, is that insert that comes with it stellar too; really wonderful artwork.
I realy love the little black armless below at left, such a crazy expression ! I appreciate more and more Bear Model seeing your photos.
Sometimes, late at night, I've been known to sidle up to my Ultrabears and whisper, quiet and close, "I love you more than Buta."
Found some time to take decent pics of this beauty. I scored him recently. OG Spectreman release with the info sheets . . . love that vibrant red on yellow vinyl.
beautiful - you just need the clear yellow and your complete on the Spectremen. Also great mini update - is the mini Mogera GID?
^^ No, the Mogera is not GID unfortunately! And indeed, i think the clear yellow is the last colorway i need for the BM Spectreman. I used to assume there were a few more paint variations out there . . . but i think i was mistaken.
I don't know which other one you own, but there are at least 2 more than those 2 in your pic and the clear yellow one : a more classic brown & gold paint with silver belt (which can also be consider OG as it has the sheet) and another brown & silver paint with blue belt from the 2012 lucky bag.
^^ Photos or it did'nt happen . . . . . . only joking. Looks like i wasn't wrong in thinking there were more colorways, after all. * EDIT * I just found this photo online. It has a silver belt . . .
Man, congrats on getting the Spectreman! (sorry, I just can't write OG anymore). He is so lovely, that yellow is killer. While the brown version really sets of the Spectreman feel, for being much truer to the show, I prefer the yellow version as being more 'toylike' and how I could see him being interpreted in vinyl. Just more fun somehow, like a comic or cartoon version maybe. But I do love yellow vinyl, and with that lovely orange-red, it makes for such a nice combo. But then, translucent vinyl is hard to beat at the best of times.... oh, who cares, I love them both! Spectemen for everyone! Great insert sheet too Moog, thanks for taking the time to scan them in for us in detail.
^^ No worries. I really like the design of Spectreman. The shiny gold angular bits and his cool belt and head-fin. Or is it a head-crest? He just looks so damn cool . . .
Moog I love those Bear Model Yokai, I had no idea they made so many monsters! Definitely have to add that to the ol' list. I like that drawing inside the bag do all of them come with that?:
