2011 says hi. Nook "Grody Shogun" Grody Shogun Amy Luke 2011 Ojisan Oji Karakuri Kara sofubi toys Nug "Kaiju Korner" "Mixed Parts Monster" Monster Lulubell Sherbert SDCC SF
New Cyclorrhapha Kid is pretty awesome. Very joyous expression and fun posture. It also sits, which has been a favorite of mine with toys for some time.
The new sculpt is super well designed and very fun! The marbling is as wild as ever and the paint is well detailed! These dudes are another example of phenomenal work coming from Lulubell. They are doing great things.
Luke is definitely a mad scientist when it comes to all aspects involved! Dude's brain never slows down or sleeps, I tell ya.
Grody Monsters & Ojisan stuff haven't interested me in a long time. But these came out really nice. These were painted by Mike Sutfin. Original retail price from Sutfin online shop was $45 + S&H. Each was packed in a cloth bag. Stock photo from Mike Sutfin online shop. Photo from some douche bag trying to flip it for 3x to 4x the cost.
I never really understood people who tried to flip GS stuff. There doesn't seem to be any realistic endgame. I just picture Luke having a good laugh over it all, while being in the midst of pumping out still more creative and fun toys for everyone. Good luck flippers, have fun with that.
Sutfin's toy projects don't generally appeal to me, and his recent work on Grody stuffs hasn't turned me around. Too, I don't know, baroque for my tastes. Reading about his process - dying the vinyl, painting on the interior, etc - is intriguing, but the end results don't hold my eye. It's like the conservatory version of Luke's punk rock drizzle. Also, I'm a little put off by the vanity: Still a fine and fairly priced project though. Just, as with most things, not made for me. 13 pics of his Grody Xing.
I gotta say, despite the fact that I have absolutely no idea how he achieved that kind of effect on these guy's noggins, I find them absolutely beautiful. I'm really curious how these actually look in hand. Also, I snagged one of those florescent marbled Peanuts, as well. Immediately upon seeing him my mom said something about it having a "penis nose", which was a little disconcerting, because she was had to have been referring to an erect penis. Which, I don't know, I wasn't 100% comfortable with. Maybe I'm a prude.
Well your mom probably fucked in order to create you, so I am sure she knows what an erect penis looks like. Honestly, I really like these because of the quality they show and the signature on the back of the head is so intricate looking. I hope Mike does more hand painted toys in the future, but instead paints more of his illustrative features just like he did on his Mad Battleman figures he released a while back.
