Very cool. Though I think - not having one in hand to say for certain - that it looks like the other figures have the same body with the fours 'arm holes', and I think maybe it is intended to add still that extra playability factor with this great toy, by allowing you to swap and reposition the arms on the body. If you had a pair of these, I bet you could make a four-armed fella. I wonder if, since these are all solid vinyl pieces, if that means they might be intended for a painted run (hope)? I think the simplicity of the mixed parts/kit bashed nature of the toy is what makes a major part of its appeal [for me] but the solid copper in all one shade loses some of that effect. Still, very excited for continuing releases of him.
Only the holes with the fitted arms are pierced so to reposition them one would have to cut open the other holes... Not the most convenient option I think. Otherwise the holes appear identical so the base could be used thus if one would be so inclined.... I put in a request with mr. Takashi for such a release... The holes look very intentional so mr. Takashi must be aware of the possibilities!
Ah, okay, gotcha @Hastur, thanks for clarifying that. So shall we dub this the 'Hastur' release then? ^_^
Haha, that would be too much credit since it was @JoeMan who first spotted the possibility of four arms!
Ha, well I was just kidding anyways. What I would like to see, if I am really going to be hypothesizing some future releases, is a new character(s) that would allow you to swap parts interchangeably between them. I really like toys that you can pop heads 'n limbs off and on, and I could easily see some more creative characters coming from Takashi-san's aesthetic. A lineup of a few guys would be wonderful. @JoeMan I thought that too about the construction of the parts, but it is nice to have confirmation. I wonder how the harder plastic is made, i.e. if it is poured, vaccuformed, or what, and how this production is balanced with the vinyl pulling? I get the impression that this is probably a tiny hobby operation, so that mixing of materials is very interesting to see (for me).
I think the harder plastic is actually vinyl, I was playing with it and there was a tiny bit of squeeze to those pieces. Just hardened beyond what we would consider the norm in soft vinyl. Actually very cool and impressive he is using so many different vinyls with different levels of hardness. What can I say, I know a little something about 4 armed toys.
Hey there all I'm actually doing a painted run of Nazora they are amazing figures in hand and the magnet feet are cool little feature
Sorry, just because I am an moron and for idiot-proof clarification, is this an 'official' collaboration, a sanctioned run of customs, are you just buying a run of toys, set up with some new blanks, or what exactly is this going to entail? It's fair to say a lot of us are intrigued by the Nazora toy, and fans of Takashi-san's creation, but I just think a statement like that, when posted in the Blues玩具 toy thread requires some more clarification as to specifics.
Nice big haul of Nazora1 parts @obsessedpanda. Looks like the same vinyl colours as in the third version only now used on different parts of the toy. Lots of possible and different combinations with these parts! Since the parts are not uniform it doesn't look like it will be one run though unless they will be customs. Do you have a timeframe for releasing them?
Glad to see this line getting some love. I've got the clear grey one. It has a little paper strip that wraps around him as well. If I remember correctly his teeth and maybe the paper glow...
It's an official collaboration between Takashi-San and I ^_^ they will be released within the next month through my webstore
It will be 2 runs ^_^ and since the blanks I recieved are mixed parts I will be doing an homage to mazinger Z which will be the first run and the second run will be some one-offs.... The first run will be out within a month
Hahaha, you are so right David! If I didn't know better and see the photo credit, I could have easily attributed this to one of your play sessions.
I would love to see a picture. I've not seen any paper strip with the new versions, is it an older one?
@Hastur , the best picture I could find of the paper strip was this close up image belonging to @akum6n (nice angle tho). It's hard to believe that there's still at least 1 of the latest release available on Mandarake. The editions don't seem to be very large either.
At 1 point I was able to find images of a clear green / black version online, along with other previous versions, but I can't seem to find em anywhere. Does anyone know where to look? EDIT : Found Them! Pics below below.
The version with the paper strip was a lottery item from Patchi-Summit, if I recall correctly. I believe the paper strip says something to that effect.
^ Found. View this post on Instagram Does anyone know what the story is with these and if any were released (apart from the 3 we've already talked about)? I would love to get my hands on a couple of them (or attempt to ). @boon velvet I am 99% sure those are all test shots. I spoke with Mr. Takashi awhile back about them. He simply said they were not available, but I was using translate to communicate. I do have to agree with you though, they are all quite beautiful! Some of them would be my faves if I could land em. Here's to hoping we see some similar production runs in the future!
There have been a number of Nazoras released over the years, but due to the low interest in the figure, they never really turned up outside of the shows at which they were sold. I don't know if all of those were released specifically, but I feel pretty certain that I have seen that clear green body Nazora displayed at a show at some point.
Sorry for the poor photos (storming here). Wanted to add a photo of the paper strip. Mine looks to say something different than the one posted above.
It is hard to understand why the clear black sold out on mandarake in under two days while the glitter blue did not sell out as of yet. This is why I do think this glitter blue version must have been much larger in number, also it appears nazora1 is still a rather underapreciated toy, I did an instagram search of it just now and there aren't many different people posting of it...
