I'm probably showing my ignorance with anraku ansaku, but i thought the whole point of these Medicom releases was not only to make rare toys available to more people, but also to be more affordable . . . 26,000 as a retail price is a rip-off in my opinion, i dont care how cool the toy is. Is that how much the original releases retailed for? I always assumed drunk boy's high prices on the secondary market were purely down to flippers . . . .
@The Moog - Well... for what it's worth, the Medicom open run releases, without the schmantsy courtesan garb, were ¥19,440, so the extra ¥6,480 covers the covering and whatever else Dream Rocket contributed to the collab. Not that you'll like the other price, either.
The original blue Drunk Boy I was offered was $180 before shipping. I wasn't offered, but was told the blue DX versions with the Kimono's were around $250-$270 before shipping. The prices are about the same as the originals Anraku offered when I was on the list.
If only Medicom did not have this idea of a high-end/hype store in Omotesando, these would have been available to us plebeians.
I agree it's nicer than the medicom versions. But at the same time, it's really cool when you have an actual store front with good releases, and if you're in the area you can make the trek out and experience collecting toys outside of the virtual world. I can't knock it, even if there's stuff I'll never score that i want.
Hey! Does anyone have any solid information or link to the biography of the creator of Anraku? I want to edumacate myself a little bit and also am looking for his personal contact. My power over Google is falling short
As much as I agree with you about the pleasure of hunting real toy stores, I don't think our hobby needed this kind of flipper den. Tokyo has so many toy stores already and Medicom already had its 1/6 Project store. This Medicom Plus store is particularly aimed at tourists with deep pockets, located in a mall with all kind of fashion luxury brands. It's not the image I have of my sofubi collecting hobby... "Let's go buy a Vuitton bag and a Kaiju da'lin' ".
@D-.No - Did you and Google break up? http://sofvi.tokyo/160924-anrakuansaku/ Open preorder running throughout October.
I dig the middle red with metallic greenish paint. nice (and affordable- always a plus). Grace is going to lose her mind, shes been waiting for these!
Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Mini Gogas are gooey, crude perfection. I dig the more muted palette of the OG's as compared to metallics for the minis, but these are great nonetheless.
Definitely need to jump on these when Lulu runs their preorder. I've wanted a mini goga for a few years now! I can finally have ..... 3!
Goodness gracious me!!! This is wonderful news! Just sent a note to Amy over at Lulubell. She replied right away! They should be getting a confirmation during the first week of October, from Medicom, then they'll post pre-orders. Nice to see three colors! They should pack these little guys in cardboard dinosaur "eggs" ...and yes Chris! I will be breaking the bank to get a few of these!
