I think that's the first time I've seen Cut Nose painted... I'm in love. Amazing what some paint can do for a sculpt.
Wonderful to see so many toys, so thank Andy for providing us with all the pics. Sadly, I think I had a 'preview' of so many of the SF toys already from what I have seen offered through Mandarake and certain toy providers. It is always a thrill for me personally to see so many Amapro toys on offer, and another standout for me this year is this Yamomark, offering this cute and silly guy: Always impressive Buta offerings, and honestly, the stuff Ilu Ilu puts out just blows my mind. So much thought and efforts put into executing toys that hit on everything both adult and kid me love. I would be over the moon to own one of those fantastic creations, but would be happy to just check out and play with somebody's for an afternoon as well. Sadly, the cost and art aspect makes that an improbable occurrence, but hey, one can dream. While I am still not immediately sold, on a personal level, on the Black Seed stylings, I do so appreciate the offering of new 'masked' hero figures. Really great to see, even if their design happens to be missing a little something for me.
These new shikaruna birds are great. Very reminiscent of the monstock ones but affordable. Some of the newer vendors...Yikes. Seems like late 2015+, we are seeing a lot of garbage. Great to see classics like bullmark intertwined with staples such as sunguts, us toys etc.
Hikari Banbi's figure looks pretty cool of this fish thing. I really like both the painted version and that clear glitter one!
That's it. I'm going the the summer one come hell or high water. I hope they announce the dates soon so I can start planning.
As always, excellent coverage. I'll make out out to one of these one day! And can I just say, are you kidding me, that pink yabanjin??? Who do I have to kill to get it? My heart skipped a beat...
Is Super Festival always at the Science Museum in Chiyoda, Tokyo? This seems to be the best sofubi toy show in Japan, is there a better one? How does the toy show in Thailand compare? Sorry for all the questions or if this isn't the place to ask... but, I haven't found anything helpful using the search function comparing toy shows in that part of the world.
Much appreciated and many thanks, Andy, as always! This fuggin' guy: LOOOOOVE My favorite from Shikaruna in a long while. I'm probably asking for the moon, to hope for an acquirable/affordable run...
Which are the best shows in Asia to attend? I had no clue about the bc blasters and the oni kid releases. The pics were great. Happy to see the madballs in a size comparison.
It reminds me of a less hairy Babadook, and I love it. Don't get me wrong, I love Shikaruna, but it seems like they're getting affected a bit by hype. Not their fault of course, but I wish they would release just a liiiiittle bit more of these figures to counter the crazy demand.
That Shikaruna Raizo figure is amazing too. Seems like Shikaruna has made a return to form making some amazing new kaiju. Not that I minded the T-28, licensed character phase. But original standard kaiju is what they do best. Whats up with the Yajabin, it seems like Shik has been releasing all of them lately. Were they originally behind the SX toy brand, was it just a marketing ploy or to keep criticism away from their brand. Did they just say fuck it. it's too much work operating the SX toy
Great seeing what they had! So much good stuff! I usually am Tokyo-bound in October for the Halloween events, but next time, I'm doing New Years for lucky packs and will have to make sure this is on my list!
thank you, andy!!! always great coverage! highlights for me: big one craft, buta, cometdebris, gigabrain, m1, marusan, ustoys, yamanaya. basically the usuals, but i love seeing them still going and releasing fire, as the kids say. really wish we had a show like that over here. i would easily (maybe a little too easily) be able to start up again. my ultimate highlight though are these two dudes from the black seed table (anyone have further info on them?):
Is that... King Ghidorah as three crinkle fries in a red fry container? Because if it is, that is absolutely hilarious!
Dont know what the deal with that Yamomark guy is but I love him too @ultrakaiju! Hopefully hes not too hard to come by..
