I actually bought the Tsuchinoko over a year ago from someone on eBay. My boyfriend is a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, and his favorite was the 3rd game... you can catch one in it, so I thought it'd be a funny gift. It's a banana-yellow colored vinyl, like the blank set above, completely painted over. Has a MARMIT stamp near the bottom, which is open finger-puppet-style. It's the same version as the one on the display card, green and red with a bit of a metallic sheen, gold eyes.
I love the Giant 62 Godzilla. This is my favorite color version from Hyper Hobby in my collection. And the only variant reissue I bought is the December 2015 event exclusive. The header card was purposely reversed so the special guests at the event can sign it. Got these Marmit Gigan standard sizes in the mail today.
I guess since Sofvi Life is sort of part of Marmit I can mention it here. So WTF? When did Sofvi Life make a glow Hedorah??? I've always wanted my milky white version to glow and they go ahead and make one without telling me lol!
Hmm, I wonder if it really is glow. Sometimes I think they assume milky white items are GID without confirming. It's interesting to see that one turn up again. Back around November of last year, there were a bunch of mystery Sofvi Life figures that came up for sale on Mandarake, including a similar First Hedorah. I bought one of the Giant Pretty Godzillas and the header was marked "Sample". I assumed the rest were paint samples of some sort, possibly for the Medicom releases. Looking at them more closely now, I notice that some of the headers (including this First Hedorah) have some additional text printed below the name of the item: 会員仕様, which suggests they were some sort of membership release. I'm not really familiar with Marmit's distribution... do they have a mailing list or membership group?
I was intrigued by that guy too, and gave some serious thought to adopting him, but just had to hold back for other commitments. I am not sure the vinyl is quite GID either, but it is lovely. I like the subtle multi-coloured additions especially, almost gives him that oily sludge glimmer, perfect for the inspiration. I wonder about the edition of these too, it's not a sample or one off, as I have definitely seen this version come up for sale before though. I'd really like to see some nicer clear photos, those Mandarake bagged ones I think are really not doing this lovely toy justice. If anyone here adopted this pretty Hedorah, hopefully some questions can be answered at least.
Well two sold on Mandarake, and both were listed as glow so I just assumed it was correct. Vinyl looks GID to me in that pic looking at the feet and left shoulder but you never know.
Because Cowra. View this post on Instagram Special Thanks to one of the best skullbrains around for this grail. Happy Easter to Yous!
It does. It's the painted clear red lame version. And yes, I agree, he's hard to stop looking at, and he was just awesome out in the daylight. He's been sitting next to me for a month or two since receiving him, just because he's fun on the eyes.
Well slugs do have suction cup mouths so it kind of reminded me more of that than some ones butthole.
