For what it's worth, I think that they're only available individually. My speculative pricing for a set was just based on the previous figs selling for $15 a pop.

    Wholesale enquiry, anyone?

Jumbles and jumbles of new Star Wars stuff announced at the annual D23 event this weekend. New Battlefront 2 info, Episode 8 goodies, new details on the expansive Star Wars Lands coming to the Disney resorts....and....my personal favorite...an immersive Star Wars themed resort hotel. Sweet LAWDY LAWD!

Too many cutesy characters and a weird empty feeling while watching that recent making of/trailer video... my expectations for The Last Jedi have dropped significantly

That's why I didn't purchase any of them. I would have snagged the initial robot reaper because it looks exactly like Josh's art but having to buy all 6 was a huge turn off.

Another something that I'd completely forgotten about:

Considerably lamer than I remember it being, and therefore so much the better!

For anyone interested in the 3.75" lines, my local Target has most of their SW merch on sale. The 3.75" figures are all marked down to $3.75.

Aw shucks, that is almost affordable. Makes me think of days of buying of yore. (side note: [dons grumpy old man hat] toys today are entirely too expensive) Would not mind browsing those aisles at all.

Care to share the story on this coffee table lineup Roger, was that from one lucky haul, your collection thus far, or some particular themed grouping for you?

In terms of 'new' Star Wars stuff, I will admit that really what takes my fancy is actually just old Star Wars. Meh, stuck in my ways, what can you do. But, in that vein, the Gentle Giant bigguns really strike a pretty fine chord with me, even though I have yet to actually own one. I couldn't ever see myself making a shelf out of a mass grouping of them, as I would happily with the 3 3/4" line, but a couple choice characters to relive the days (and years, for me) of childhood play would be very welcome. Anyway, moving along, for those that remember the 'Early Bird' mailaway premium (which, if you don't, has been revisited across so many other lines it is sort of hard not to be, but I digress...), GG now has a pre-order for their up-sized versions of the set. While the display box does nothing for me, though it does admittedly re-create the original mailer, I will confess that the paper backdrop is a nice little accessory for the set. As with anything from them, it won't come cheap [279$], and is aimed straight at the collectors' market, but still sort of noteworthy. Nice to look at, and I am sure even better to hold, but give me some opened up, played with, and 'de-valued' ones at a fraction of the cost, and I will be just as happy.

More info on the set and ordering from GG here.

That old school set does indeed look fantastic! I honestly wouldn't mind having one.

Or 'Jumbo connoisseurs,' as the description states. Jumbo connoisseurs, heh. I guess it sounds better than calling their clientele heavyset.

Having a 14" long one of these around the house would be fun, I'm happy to admit, but...

Yes, that was one of the reasons I didn't even bother sharing news of that guy there. The Death Star playset was one of those childhood grails that I could only ever hear about and experience through stories and dreams. The Dianoga was an immediate chase for me way back in the dawn of the internet age (to excess, if I am honest), so yes, the above has a very special place for me. But no way could I go to those lengths. I mean, I do really so appreciate these fantastic toys and what they are doing in tradition of the Kenner line, but it's just not accessible, and for that reason, I am stuck for the moment and probable future, admiring it from afar.

All of my childhood figures are gone but I've been re-acquiring them over the past couple of months. If you click on the picture, it should take you to the two photos on Instagram with a description.

About the Gentle Giant jumbo figures, I still think they are pretty lacking if you are paying full price, but I have picked up a couple for much less than retail and it's harder to complain about them when you do that. There are one or two Chinese sellers on eBay selling loose figures for about $20-30, apparently ones that walked out the back door.

I don't remember if we had a separate thread for bootlegs, but Dollar Slice Bootlegs is making amazing resin copies of the Gentle Giant figures. They weigh about 2 pounds each. I have the Blue Stars, it's fantastic: http://dollarslicebootlegs.bigcartel.com/product/jumbo-blue-star

And of course I have raved before about the "Crazy Toys" 12-inch Stormtrooper bootleg, it is much better than the Gentle Giant figures.

Lastly, these figures by Green Plastic Tunnels are worth watching: https://www.instagram.com/greenplastictunnels/ - his dad is actually one of the original Kenner sculptors, he did the Dianoga above, Death Star Droid, and many others.

Care to translate for us, Bunny or pH?

The gist would do me fine!

Well, not sure, maybe they added them in after you posted D, but there are subtitles available for the clip and (outside of a few grammatical and spelling errors) they are pretty much an accurate translation of the dialogue. So what you see is [actually] what you get, in this case.

The obvious answer is I would have gone through the trouble.

And yes, that is absolutely glorious, for some many reasons, some of which have been highlighted in the Archive. I do recommend it for random SW and nerd browsing, the depth of history and 'unknown' items it contains are a wealth for even the occasional fan, and I am always extremely grateful for its existence and the work they've put in.
