The Space Barbarian is so underrated. That eyeshot version is my personal favorite, next to the blue/red that came with the ray gun.
The factory handpaints are so good. The four captains are all spectacular. I think the Crows Nest is my favorite of the bunch.
I was searching to see if these fellas had their own thread but didn’t come up with anything. But I must say these little figures pack a huge punch with detail and awesomeness. Micro Infection Monsters from Secret Base are just that Infectious. I’ve been collecting these guys behinds the scenes for a couple years. Sets as well as individuals are super hard to come by. Hoping to land some other colors and head sculpts on my indefinite wants list haha. Spoiler: M.I.M.
There are at least 3 of those that I wish were fullsized. Melty skull suit and devil with bow tie and wolf man. To this day their is still unlimited potential with the micros.
I think the devil and Tar man suit are among my favorites. I know they did a leather face one that I am in love with and hope to one day track down. But if they made these in large sizes it would be amazing for sure.
Been trying to find some info on the giant size skull bees. I think they are called Deka Skull Bee. Can anyone tell me the story behind these? Year produced, variations (I count 4), etc.. Red - Taipei toy exclusive Blue ? Black? White? 2008?
The red/white/blue Skull Brain is one that you do not see too often... one of those from the flurry of releases in 2008-10. I think it was part of a set?
@akum6n Definitely one of my favorites I own. I'm completely unaware of whether or not it came in a set, but if it did, not only would I be interested in knowing its companion, I'd also like to own it!
It was part of the 'Team America' trio along with these guys . . . Sold at the same time as the white glow-yellow-black 'Team Japan' Bee, Damaged Brain and Space Barbarian. Good times!
Hot shit, Andy, I’ve seen those both and didn’t even make the connection! Damn fine trio! The Team Japan Bee is one I’m still searching for!
Thanks Andy. I did some digging, and there is hardly anything out there about this set. Wonder why it slipped through the toy reporting cracks back then. Apparently both sets of figures were released back in late January 2009 All 6 figures were also sold as unpainted blue GID figures at the NYCC around that time as well. I thought the coloration was a Japan baseball reference, but could be wrong. Yellow and black is typically Hanshin Tigers. Not sure what blue and red would be, but seems like it should be a team from the opposite league.
