I guess this is as good a place as any to ask as any. So, what exactly is the relationship between SkullBrain and Super 7? Did this place originate as a S7 forum? Apologies for the non sequitur.
Well, yes it sort of did, in that it started off as a Super7 run project, with help from other fans - and is still operated by them - but with a focus on the general hobby of Japanese vinyl toys. So it does maintain the connection, but not necessarily to the Super7 line/brand/shop as such. It acts pretty independently, which I think is a major factor it allowing it to grow and become this entire separate community that it is today.
yeah, like you said @ultrakaiju, I'm just curious I don't mind. I'm glad they metion it, I would buy anything I like sofubi or Vinyl either way
I don't know, pH, the omission of the word in the rest of the listings could well be wholly intentional - it's entirely possible that the majority of S7's toys are now produced outside of Soft Central. Anyone from HQ care to confirm or deny? Have you got the scoop, @wtfunks?
Well I wasn't about to get in to the nitty gritty detail about Ramos and the rest of the old crew, so I thought it safer to just allude to that for simplicity, and as it seemed to me Odibex was just looking for a general straight answer. But please, if any of those people do log in here anymore, do enlighten us all with the whole tale. Sorry for stepping on your sensitive toes, Andy. And for the record, I am all too happy to be corrected at any time, provided it is helpful. I never claimed to know all that much (in any subject).
Super7 is proud to present the following PREVIEW for the first new He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animation since 1985! Please come (and bring your friends) to the public screening of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Curse of the Three Terrors" following Preview Night at San Diego Comic-Con! Wednesday - July 20, 2016 at 10:00pm PST Corner of 8th Ave & G Downtown San Diego STANDING ROOM ONLY. It's a giant parking lot. We will have plenty of room!
That is damn exciting. Blerg, yet another reason it sucks to be so far away from all of these great events all the time.
Well that was interesting. Looks like they're playing it pretty straight. Could that be the same guy voicing Skeletor? Sounds pretty similar. I actually preferred ThunderCats to MotU, but since there weren't any ThunderCats toys at that time, MotU ended up being a much bigger part of my childhood. You could only watch a given cartoon for about 24 minutes a day back then, but you could spend countless hours playing.
Yep, that was what the discussion was in regards to a page back. They did indeed get the original Skeletor voice actor, Alan Oppenheimer, back to do this as well as the Super7 SDCC promo! Pretty amazing, and sure does help fuel that nostalgia surge, doesn't it?
@ultrakaiju That is cool! I don't think I've actually heard Skeletor speaking since I was a kid, do I wasn't sure I could trust my ears.
@side.g @ultrakaiju I think they only used the term "Japanese Vinyl" on the Aliens figure because the rest of their Alien / Aliens figures aren't Japanese vinyl, they're plastic. So using it there was to say, "This one is different than the rest of our Alien / Aliens toys."
There are good guys.. There are bad guys.. and then there are The Worst. Meet Batula, Black Falcon, Gas Phantom, Robot Reaper, Snake Tut, and X-2 (The Unknown) at San Diego Comic-Con! They will be available for the first time as unpainted white debut samples (featuring amazing cardback art by Ed Repka) at Booth #4945 while supplies last!
^ @badteethcomics Are "The Worst" s7's first original 3.75" action figure line? I'm not familiar with the characters. I like em a lot tho. I assume it's okay to show this group image now. It shows off the characters better, imo.
These are some pretty cool character designs! I'll probably be getting a Robot Reaper if I can, because it's probably the closest I'm ever going to get to replacing my Clash of the Titan's Charon figure. That was the only action figure I held on to past my childhood, and it gained significance to me as I became increasingly into death-related imagery as I grew older (death punk, doncha know?). At some point I colored his grey cloak black with magic marker and later regretted it a little bit, but it was still pretty cool. Then I lost it somehow. Rats! Spoiler
@bryce_r Well, I did have an ebay account, but I hadn't used it in so long that I had no idea what the PW was, so I had to create a new one. But, yeah, ordered. Not sure why it never occurred to me to check for one there. Pretty dumb. I mean, it won't quite be the same as having the one I owned as kid, but on the other hand, it will undo my magic marker misstep. Thanks!
