I'm struggling with it lol. I've never been great with computers and such... lass at the place I work is pretty clued up on such things, so hopefully she can talk me through and show me why it's all going so horribly wrong! I just can't seem to find the right link/whatever to post the pictures directly on here... Can anyone tell me, you can follow the link I've posted to ultimately view the picture though, yes? She's gonna be judging me for my weird obsession alright though... Bloody modern technologies...
Well that was easy once I was shown how to! Sorry for the false starts guys and girls, but here it is my collection thus far! I've just "upgraded " (IMO anyway...) from two detlofs to this billy bookcase also from IKEA I've still got plenty of space to expand the sofubi side of my collection habits and eventually this will all be full of nothing but sofubi! Everything else is just to fill out the display for the time being! Still got a long way to go with it (such as getting some proper risers instead of the upturned clear containers I'm using currently) but what are your thoughts on what I've done here? Top picture is how I've settled on the set up (the fixed middle shelf limits the set up a little) not exactly how I would have liked it but hey ho...
@Hells_pawn81 in your defense Flickr does not make it easy like they used to. What I do is click on the download arrow lower right of the pic on Flickr and select all sizes. Once I get to the next screen I just right click on the image and then select 'copy image address' and paste that into the image link here. Works like a charm!
Great sgelf @Hells_pawn81 ! I think white leds are better than the purple to enhance your collection. This a not my whole collection but the biggest part. It is not tidy or organized as it should be, just posed where there is room left, I really have to move : View this post on Instagram
Wow man! You've loads more space than I do! Great collection though! Would love to see more close up pictures of the figures! Edit- just found you on Instagram so will have a browse through at some point see what you've got!
That's one problem I don't have to worry about! Getting hold of nice stuff (at a reasonable price that is) is the hardest part of living in the uk! Although our sofubi scene seems to be growing stronger all the time!
Yep! The bastards! Although me and my friend have been getting a few elegab sin recent times and haven't been stung by customs once... yet... price per figure has shot up due to the exchange rate/ weak GBP but I've put that down to the fact the uk has decided to leave the EU now
Yeah, probably. If you can persuade the seller to mark the declared value down it's OK, but not all of them like doing that. Prices have gone a bit mad for the sofubi i collect recently, anyway - so i've had to slow my collecting right down. I'm seeing Bear Model figures recently going for double what i paid for them, only a few years ago.
Sofubi is a new (ish only been collecting about two years) medium to me and there's still a lot I don't know about them/the scene in general! Don't think I've even heard of Bear Model I'll have to have a look see what they're all about! I like a mixed bag of things other than the strictly sofubi stuff, I have a few bits from unbox industries and others too cos they're just more accessible for me, they're a different kind of cool though! No one wants to mark prices down on customs forms cos of the insurance aspect though, and if a claim needs to be made it would cause headaches!
@Hells_pawn81 Yeah, but I've always took the risk and its been fine. I can see from your cabinet pics you like a mixture of toys which is cool. I'm very similar, there's just too much great stuff out there to limit your collecting. I like a nice eclectic mix. Bear Model tend to favour the Tokusatsu characters like Ultraman and enemies or Spectreman and his enemies etc. I love 'em, they have been the sofubi maker I've focused on the most . . . By the way, nice to see Dredd on top of your cabinet! I'm an old school 2000ad fan and still enjoy that shit. I passed on the large D.R. and Quinch statues years ago and always regretted not picking them up . . .
Too much good stuff out there and not enough funds to buy it all man! I'm the same with Dredd and all the 2000ad stuff, was how I started in to the world of comics I even had an almost full collection of progs at one point just had to let them go due to space, cos they're bulky! I love all that weird sci-fi and fantasy stuff especially the monsters or aliens, always have and that's how I've ended up at the sofubi. I love how zany they are and the old school toy feel to them! Much better than any action figure I've ever collected! I like the ultra man minis I have but don't think I'll be collecting any more of that kind of thing though, they remind me of the power rangers monsters (first thing I ever saw with that man in suit fighting amongst buildings style of show/movies) they're cool but just not for me. I prefer the original, out of someone's imagination over the reinterpretation of an existing classic monster when it comes to sofubi, but it's each to their own, if we all collected the same thing the hobby would become stale and boring!
Same thing for France, custom take 20% of tax + 17€ of fees, so I I systematically underestimates shipments otherwise the amount becomes crazy. For Mandarake I choose always SAL to pass under the customs radar. More longer but really cheaper. As I regret not having started my collection sooner, now I can not afford to buy some figures that I really like. Some of them are at 30/40.000 yen... And guys, this is off topic but thanks for : Alan Moore, Mark Millar, Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman, John Wagner, Garth Ennis and much more.
^^^ Don't start collecting vintage then- madman prices these days! I mean you can find deals but mainly for more common minis. The standards/giants/ and removable mask heroes have really gone up.
@Lixx Even if I like that, I will not even try to buy one. I already have a lot of old "moderns" figures on my wish list.
Not my whole collection. I have another wall and corner. But most of my kumon collection and a lot of misc. i don't even know how I could get everything into one shot
that print makes that shelf pop. good god, so much crazy goodness there. Extra points for the kumon rainbow <3
Thanks so much! It took me a long while to get every color. The front of the box display has the tan color and then clear version before the rainbow. Kind of a kumon nod to Pink Floyd
WOW!!! so cool. looks like typical early 2000 office space "when collecting western vinyl started". may i ask where you are located?
