Re: Anraku Photos! I remember the roll cake song. I watched that video way too many times and that song is hard to get out of your head. I dig the racoon. Just happy to see Anraku releasing new sculpts. I just wish the bugger was sporting an impressive pair of nuts like the video.
Re: Anraku Photos! That's where I'm placing this sculpt, to me it's in the same weird cute vein as the Glutamine.
Re: Anraku Photos! What I really like about AA is that his stuff was charmingly weird and unpredictable. To have an example of each of his works...i'd never get bored looking at them.
Re: Anraku Photos! His toys capture what I love about vintage toys..thats what I have always been drawn to.. the textures and sprays always have a nice vintage-ish feel while taking it to a new level at same time
Re: Anraku Photos! Yeah.. agreed. I can see why people don't like the new sculpts but I think it's great and refreshing. I like how these creators are mixing up textures from super details to super smooth. I think it's a testament to their ultimate creativity. The new sculpts are clearly on two opposite sides of the spectrum and that's fantastic.
Re: Anraku Photos! Drunk Boy is also a smooth sculpt. I don't really understand why anyone is complaining. From what I've gathered Anraku is hands on with what the paint application will be. We're seeing new sculpts for the first time in seven years and...and wait for it..."you" can now be on the "list" and buy the shit you always complained about not being able to buy, but are complaing about being able to buy now that you can.
Re: Anraku Photos! ^^Hear, hear! Totally agree. I love the new stuff and now everyone has the chance to get the toys that were difficult at best to score. You can definitely tell Anraku has input on color choices. The two Medicom Goga colorways are certainly reminiscent of some of his earliest releases; there has been very little, if any departure from AA's overall palette IMHO. Drunk Boy is a smooth-ish sculpt, although there is still plenty of texture there and arms/legs have the perfect amount of crudeness to make them interesting.
Re: Anraku Photos! Okay, it's bothering my brain that these Medicom promo pics aren't in this thread: OCD tics quieted. Thank you. edit: Almost quieted. Spoiler Size matters. Okay, done for now. Whew.
Re: Anraku Photos! How do the dakos stand? I've never seen one in person but in all the photos I've seen it looks like they have tiny feet. Are they shelf divers?
Re: Anraku Photos! ^^Not at all. Never had standing issues with the standard size. The feet are thin but long and provide a sturdy base. The minis should stand OK. Panda managers and beetles are the most unsteady of the minis.
Re: Anraku Photos! the little female is not so stable either. Mine needs something to lean against...
Re: Anraku Photos! I hope medicom keeps the original header art for the new releases and put the black and white drawings in that were in the original packaging!
Re: Anraku Photos! The next batch is revealed! http://sofvi.tokyo/1509010025/ I think I'll allow myself one of them. Which is cuter...? Can't decide. But what is the deal with the loose tail and head in opposite base vinyl? Omakes if you buy both?
Re: Anraku Photos! I'm getting used to the sculpt, now that we can see the final painted versions. I thought at first that it was a bit simple for an AA toy, but it actually makes a nice opposition to the other very detailed and rugged sculpts. Strange Omake, but why not...
Re: Anraku Photos! Panda no Pantaron http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/list/10640.html Tanuki no Pokopon http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/list/10639.html Too cute for my taste.
