Of course @bryce_r - but isn't the underlying purpose of not posting a live auction to keep prices in a relatively fair range, an even playing field for collectors? Right now it seems (and judging by recent hxs instagram posts I've seen - quoting actual comments here) it's become a contest of "who has the deepest pockets".. so any compassion I have in protecting a live auction has flown out of the window.

Exactly my thoughts when i posted, it’s the same as not posting about lotto info while they are still live, the good o’days are long gone, but then again if i irritate anyone i apologise ;)

Wait so can someone explain to those not in the hxs loop (I know it’s only me) hirota is also putting some up on YJA as well as his mystery lotto? Or is this now the only way to get them so he can get the most money and so “whoever has the deepest pockets” literally wins
    Regardless thanks in advance

Hirota does a small number of YJA auctions every year. The rest are normal lottos, shows, and private (or quasi-private) list offerings. I think that is about the breakdown, I haven't collected his stuff in a while now.

I sense that most of the bidders are too . . . Napoleon complex!

Steep pricetags, high-roller bidders & IG repost sheeple do not justify skirting around the 'no active lotto/auction talk' rule.
Is it really that hard to wait a couple days before the commenting/critiquing/head-shaking begins?
Yes, the times they are a-changin' (not necessarily for the better)... but just because IG has become a shitshow doesn't mean the board should follow suit.

Bottom line: It sets a bad precedent (especially for the newcomers).
Giving active lotto/auction talk a pass in this thread becomes a slippery slope that ultimately makes it okay to do so in others... and nobody wants to see that happen. Therefore it's an all-or-nothing deal.

You are expecting people to (1) go as far back as to remember the rules, (2) go through the effort of reading the guidelines of this forum, or (3) give a rodent's posterior - few of which seem to be of any concern to the current wave of 'community.'

Fair call there @smurph - I didn't consider some of those points. But hey at least people aren't posting about what they have been eating for lunch anymore!

A bagel - sliced into many thin pieces - toasted crunchy - dipped in olive hummus - and a giant hunk of pepper jack cheese. It was deeeee-lish!

$15k or nearly £11k in real money . . . for one mismatched dolly!

Hirota must be doing the Snoopy dance around the factory! :D

    Wow.

For that price a toy maker could do a true one-off.

Sculpt a toy, wax it, metal mold, pull ONE vinyl out of it and retire the mold forever.

I am really glad that the money goes to Hirota Saigansho, instead of flippers. I just hope this will help him take the price back down for the regular 30-50 numbered releases. but of course there are probably many reasons for the recent 800 release. Honestly I hope he does more releases but that is up to him.

Ok, please don't pelt me with pies, I don't collect HxS ( although i do like the looks of the mecha gorilla), but Waterbear has me wondering. At this level of pricing, is this art, a toy, and or a status symbol? If it's just a status symbol, wouldn't you worry about the Beanie Babies effect? I don't begrudge the maker the sum, and it was interesting to watch the price climb. Just hope that for people who want to play with HxS, there will be a VAG series or general release, sort of like Anraku. I suppose the definition of toy, may be different for a kiddie vs an adult.

I'll admit that some of my vintage cost a pretty penny, but i still play with them (Henry knocked to the floor, a red Bullmark Magura, but fortunately, it hit the carpet, and no spines were broken) and some of them I paid a premium, because I wanted to recapture something I had as a child, or something that my brother had, to remind me of him. At that ending price, I would be afraid to take it out of the case!
