After much debate with myself and finally consultation with people here and other toy makers, I decided to post about the toy company I started and the release(s) that have ensued. There's not a lot to say other than (like many before me) that I have wanted to produce my own line of toys and work with other artists to make their ideas come to life via vinyl. I named it Kaiju BBQ because it was a name I came up with based on a possible local event here in SoCal. Just a meet up of friendly collectors, trading toys and having food at the event. It never came about ultimately, so wtf, I'll just use the name for a toy co. instead. The first and only release thus far is SHISHI. From the twisted, but fun-loving mind of Miles Nielsen (Munktiki/Yakimon). He and I had been literally talking since he participated in a group show at TAG years back. I loved his Shishi design and really wanted to bring it to life in vinyl. So, a year and a half ago I began the long, arduous descent that is sofubi. That's all. I hope you dig it. I know it won't be embraced by all, but that's the game, right. Enjoy and thanks for the opportunity. If you want to follow us on IG, I can be found @kaiju_bbq
Version: Gold Lame Release: Five Points Fest Exclusive Date: June 1, 2019 Version: 55 Blue Tribute Release: Lulubell / Convict Exclusive Date: January 25, 2020
That is too fucking funny, I saw the blue on Lulubell and was thinking to myself “wow, a ‘new’ toy that doesn’t suck.” I find it a bit reminiscent of a fight figure in terms of body-to-head proportions, (though scales up, of course) and relieved that it’s not textured to hell and back! Can’t wait to see a GID version, perhaps?
Thanks everyone for the posts, likes and new IG followers. Greatly appreciated. If you like the 55 Blue, then I think you're gonna dig the next two colorways coming down the pike. HUGE thanks to Amy at Lulubell, Robert also at Lulubell for taking the killer pics they used over there, Ian at Trash Talk Toys and Deep Fried Garlic for doing the paint app for this fella (55 Blue), and finally Rikimaru at Convict. Lots of other helpful folk as well, but I think you guys know who you are.
I just got mine from Lulu yesterday. What a beast! Ever since Miles started making these in ceramic I've wanted to see it in vinyl. Boom!
Hosted and roasted by Lord Bemon... it hurts just looking at it, but at the same time, it's awesomely mesmerizing to see, and to think that someone would actually roast a goga!
New SHISHI Hawaii colorway and killer new header card by Chip Mclaughlin @eckotyper I don't even know what that is, means or whatever...
In case you missed it. Huge thank you to Amy at Lulubell, the Devil's Kaiju and Robert, of course for the amazing pics. More sofubi in 2021
This one is my favorite colorway to date! They are all great actually, but I definitely like this one the most. I sadly couldn't get one when they came out as I didn't have enough money, but congrats to those who were able to get this one (and other ones). <3
Thanks for the kind words and likes gang. Couldn't be happier with how amazing this colorway turned out. There were only 4 available so the odds were tough. Plan/hope is to work with The Devils Kaiju again.
