^^ Yeah, same. I don't have any of the 450 series Hedos, but even without wanting to necessarily remove it, I somehow dislike the idea of any glued joints on a toy; I guess for me this is sort of verging into the soft vinyl kit or even art/display piece, whereas I still see these as playthings. I am sure there is likely some reason for it, but part of me feels this should then just be addressed in the mold, after all, one of the aspects of the 'artistry' of the hobby (as I am sure any of the makers will attest to) is figuring out the balance with a sculpt, points of articulation, and how (and where) to pull parts from the mold. Getting it all to work together is no small achievement, but one of the aspects that sets the top tier toy makers apart is the attention to detail and experience that allows them to achieve their vision in the sofubi medium.

Probably reading/assigning too much into to, but just trying to frame why, even though it is seemingly a small thing, I can totally understand the slight disappointment in something like this.

Interesting question. It's always buyer's choice at the end of the day, but I think we've learned enough - or at least the people that have been around this hobby for a while - that there really isn't any advantage to keeping something bagged up. And, if anything, it could be detriment [not saying this is always the case, but certainly there is a lot of empirical evidence on ageing to support it as a risk]. Bottom line is, unless you aim to resell a toy (and even then I would make the argument that a 'sealed' version is not any more desirable than a mint one with its bag and header, and also being in a bag is definitely no indication of a toy being mint) then I don't really see the impetus in keeping something bagged up. If that is your display choice and preference, go nuts, but if it is for any other reason or perceive value, my opinion is that is actually not the case, so you might as well crack it open like a child on Christmas day and enjoy the heck out of it! :D That's what these things are for.

    * with the total additional caveat that I know this answer cannot and never will be definitely settled on SB

Thank you @deafmetal and @ultrakaiju. That is the answer that I was hoping for and expecting. I guess I'd be interested in hearing an argument for keeping them in the bag, I'm interested why someone would chose to display their toy in that way. I'm a very tactile, play with my toys kind of person so it's nice to know that dealer's choice applies here without offending an entire group of collectors.

Sometimes stuff goes unopened due to buyer frenzy i.e. spree kaiju killing. Ton o stuff rollin in, ultrabusy with rl, open the coolest one of the daze arrivals, put the others aside for later; lather, rinse, repeat. Pretty soon, mounds of unopened stuff!

Not an argument for keeping things bagged; maybe one for either less buying or less busy with rl, tho.

Love the header and the size of this guy was shocking to me. Such a cool release

That header is incredible. It's a shame it's so itty bitty in comparison to the figure.

Yeah I don’t love folding the bags into a little peak at the top but it seems pretty common lately.

I'm a big Ultraman fan and got into collecting because of loving Ultraman. Unfortunately I have a very small home and barely anywhere to display anything, let alone toys. I'm also married and keep my music gear and toys in the basement, making my wife happy and allowing us to have a conservative main floor area. Because of this, I keep most of my bigger toys in the bags, hoping one day to move into a house that has room for a display. I go through them and look at them a lot! One day i'll open all of them and put them somewhere. I think i'm going to have them for a while.

Yeah, if I was going to grab one figure, it would be the 450 series figure. I really dig it.

I believe that anything that doesn't sell at DesignerCon will be available through Monster Patrol.
