Quick question (I should know this but am drawing a blank). What's up with the hedoran and odoron with different/ googly eyes?

@bryce_r I think the description for the Hedoran indicated that the bag had been opened and re-sealed, so I don't know if the eyes were done by a third party or by G. Based on memory, the Odoron is actually a custom from one of their shows, but can't remember which one offhand. I'll post if I find the show.

The odoron looks more familar then the hedoran. But I can't imagine removing the disks for googly eyes. hhmm

I saw that as well.. I almost bought it until I translated the description. I think it looks great, really suits the goofiness of the character but I just didn't trust the risk of what type of glue was used on the figure.. I don't want some bad chemical reaction, oozing mess in a few years from an amateur custom.

Am I the only one who's unsettled (I tried to put that politely) by googly eyes on something like that? Heck, I have a Crawling Hedoran with disk eyes, and I wasn't 100% on that (though I was a little more comfortable when I learned they were plastic and not the paperboard I'd amused). I'm not really into anything with non-vinyl parts, put googly eyes is where I put my foot down. See. I put it down right there.

    EDIT:
Not to draw attention to the obvious, but that particular character has always been an oozing mess ;)

Just as long as it's sculpted and not transferring onto my fingers...

Some guy on a non-toy forum where I'd posted some of my collection referred to my stuff as my "melted wax" figures. I think that's the most derogatory thing anyone's ever said about my hobby. It cut deep.

Thought GrassHut did a sticky blue Hedoran with googly eyes back in 2007 or so.
Nothing new IMO, probably just someone gaming a resell site.

You use the wax model to make the negative molds (in metal). It really is a melted wax process although the proper term is lost wax casting. He isn't far off and if he was trying to be insulting, you can toss that in his face.
The only googly eyed Hedo was the one from GrassHut and the only disc eyed toy is the Odoron. If the Odoron has googly eyes, maybe Bwana did a custom for a show or for his webstore. I really don't recall anyone else doing googly eyes (maybe Marty Feldman - RIP).
After seeing where the pic was pulled from, I'm pretty sure that wasn't in a show. It looks pretty cool though. I miss seeing more Odoron toys.

Won't be needing to do that, actually. I tracked him down and shot him in the face. That is kind of amusing info in hindsight, though.
I'm about as ignorant as they come on this board and I know that can't be true. There've been at least a couple Hedorans with disc eyes. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something. And how does everyone but me know where this google-eye came from? I don't understand.

I'd actually never seen an Odoron til I just looked one up. It's a very cool sculpt!
One of the best things this board did was give us a Feldman smiley

Disc-eyed Hedorans are common as far as the standard size goes. I know some of the minis also have disc-eyes (like the mini crouching) but for the most part, the minis have painted eyes. Gargamel seems to like using the discs cause you see it in the Odoron and the Eaton as well. Definitely saves on having to make a mask or poke holes for taxidermy eyes. I can't believe I said the only disc-eyed toy is the Odoron when I know damn well the Hedoran and Eaton also have them. I think I'm starting to get Marty Feldman eyes (pretty sure some of you are looking up who the hell Marty Feldman is). I think I should go to bed.

OK, good to know I wasn't the one losing it that time!

There was also a custom walking Hedoran done by Koji with googly eyes. Raffle prize for the Kaiju Kollision show back in 2007.

Maybe this is the Odoron that I was thinking of earlier (third photo down):

But the paint is different from the production version.

Close but the one bryce was talking about is this one (from the Rulers of Time). Pretty cool with the googly eyes.

Like I said, the googly eyes squick me out, but I might be tempted by that one, since its such a wicked sculpt. I hadn't noticed the boat breaking through his abdomen before!

@gatchabert Yeah, close but not the same. As far as I can tell, the one in your photo is identical to the production version, except for the eyes.

I meant that the paint on the one from G's blog is not the same as the production version. In my memory, I thought it was, but I was mistaken.

    I just noticed something strange..

I have 2 Conifas figures (the Tokyo colorway and the green colorway) and I just noticed that they're different heights!
The yellow one is about a 1/4" taller than the green one, which is strange because I thought they were from the same mold. I only have 2 versions, so I can't compare any other colorways. Has anyone else noticed this?

Certain figures sometimes vary in height. They can get a little stretched sometimes when pulling from the mold. Or even collapse on themselves over time depending on the sculpt.

    Gotcha!

I kinda figured that there was a reasonable explanation for this issue, I just thought it was strange. Good to know that I'm not crazy or that the cannabis I'm currently consuming isn't causing hallucinations..

This thread needs a quick update now that we have the new Vendor bot from this years lucky bag. Hopefully we will see some clear ones later this year.

I guess clear ones will be painted as 1offs or micro run at at this year Thrash Out show.

As I haven't picked one of these up yet I'm curious if the micros can fit inside the vendor bot. That would make for some fun interesting customs.

If you look closely, you will see a blue or coke bottle micro sitting inside of the clear vendor bot in the above picture.
