Looks like it was an incredible show! I was lucky to grab a Franken-X and Invader-Z, which I have been after for a while, and a few ghosties! Wish I had more $$$$$
This show was bananas! So good, even better that I got to meet wonderful friends like beaK! Pics are up on this think for your screen licking pleasure. https://collectingtoyz.blogspot.com/2019/05/destroy-all-monsters-at-clutter-gallery.html?m=1
Karz Monster Works catalog is available for $50 + SH. https://shop.cluttermagazine.com/art-toys/karz-monster-works-catalog
Thank you for that, Anthony. I was sincerely hoping these would be made available after I’d seen Tim post his! I’m gonna gamble on picking one up at Clutter early June myself, but this looks fantastic.
I placed an order for the book yesterday. I am happy that the catalog was made. I wonder if Pikachu will be in the book? lol
Such a good show, I wish I had more spending money and could have grabbed the 1-off Behemoth. I did score a few of the old midsize SHB bodies that were previewed and was pretty stoked to get those so I can’t complain. If you didn’t make it out for the opening it’s definitely worth swinging by while the show is still up.
The show was great! The mix of sculpts and colors were great to see. There were so many toys I've never seen in person before. I really recommend swinging by and taking a look even if a lot sold over the weekend. The Karzwork pieces were just insane in their size and sculpts. The various SHB were fun with the assorted clear colors and guts. I put up a story on my IG account of the show catalog that was for sale. It's an impressively large book that has everything from the shop with some great captions. Apparently I met my 1,000 pic upload limit on Flickr. If anyone knows a better site to make a gallery, let me know and I'll upload all of my pics for viewing. OR hit me up on IG and I can send a few over. Here's my Instagram post: Plus I grabbed a few Rampage micros. Always fun!
Oh wow, that catalog looks great! I have one on order, although the price gave me a bit of pause. But seeing your video, I'm impressed. A couple of questions, if someone that attended would be kind enough to answer: - Were there any customs of the Monster Q or Monster D? The Tolueneman, Howaton and Mogurons seemed to be one-offs, so I was wondering if he did the same for the other old SHB figures. - Some of the older figures looked like versions that were sold years ago. Were these old stock or something else? E.g., the cryptid finger puppets, and Monster Q/D figures. EDIT: First question answered- thank you!
All of the SHB 1-offs were painted for the show specifically over the course of January and February of this year. This includes the older figures. There still are some Monster Q figures available I believe - including the minis. I was happy to finally get one of those!
I believe the finger puppets were new, as they don't match any of the colors of the original two versions that I own.
It looked like there were new heads, limbs, and guts on the adult bodies as well. I wish he had an IG presence, do people keep up with his work on facebook?
Yep - 10 new arms (5 right and 5 left), a number of new heads and the guts inserts - 3 different versions of guts. For this show, all of the guts were GID.
These will be available through Vicious Fun in September. It's a very small run and Rampage did the paints, they are very close to the vintage Kenner colors....... I will post color photos this weekend. I would also like to extend kind and Sincere thanks to Akamatsu, Jon and Loren!
These guys had a cool buzz abut them when they first showed up, but like the world of RxH adult size, seem (IMHO) to be hitting too thick and fast to keep on top of . . . let alone try to collect. Just ordered a copy of the book to see if that might help make sense of things. Books > Toys seems to be the cheaper and easier way these days!
The book is really nicely done, but I would not call it an exhibition catalog. It omits a number of the pieces, and it seems to be those that are featured in multiple paint schemes. For example, if there are purple, blue and green versions of Monster X, they might only show the green version. On the positive side, the write-ups on the Karzworks figures are really thorough, and gave me a better understanding of the source material that inspired those figures.
New Mutant Monsters preview posted by Akamatsu Kazumitzu on Nov 30, 2019. These were made for a new exhibition for 2020.
Those new sculpts are absolutely insane! Loving the brain, 6 eyed green guy, and plant-like guy especially. Hope to acquire them eventually. Anyone know what event these are planned for? Heres some of mine from the Destroy All Monsters show. Rabbit-X and Drill-X were acquired at the show. Rest were offered to me afterward. As most know I pretty much only collect SHB "X" figures these days and am always on the look out Definitely my favorite sculpt. Incredibly diverse with a ton of options. These new heads and arms have opened up a whole new realm of potential. Can't wait to see what will be coming in the near future!
The specific exhibition has not been announced. Only that they will be for an exhibition held sometime in 2020.
